Default What's your favourite SH title?

I was just wondering which game rated the most highly with everyone.
I read a lot of stuff on how bad SH5 was, but I have found it pretty good so far, despite the WASD activities. And the lack of clarity when in port.

WELCOME ABOARD!

First, you're posting this in the SH5 forums. That's fine, as you like SH5. The problem is that most of your responses are going to be from SH5 players.

Second, any responses from SH3 or SH4 players may be honest to start with, but you're asking for a fight to develop. I say this because we've had a great many of these arguments before, and we don't need another one. Subsim is normally a fairly friendly place, but there are certain topics that just cause trouble.

Sorry to come down on you like this, but as I said we've seen this sort of question develop into battles royale. Probably better to have asked a question like this in General Games or General Topics.

Personally, SH5 is my favorite, but that because I have a high powered PC to enjoy the wonderful graphics and I have not had much trouble with modding the game.

And welcome to SubSim.

SHIII - Extensive and refined U-boat sim.

SH4 - Refined US Fleet Sub sim.

SH5 - Good U-boat sim, but also a training ground for tommorrow's best game devs.

I'm still somewhat new in the Subsim world but I've played SH3 an SH5 an so far I like SH5 better mostly cuz of the graphics, I like being able to walk around my ship an talk to my crew, plus I've been lucky to not have to deal w/ half the problems w/ SH5 that I've heard about like the CTD an playin the tutorial which normally causes trouble w/ playing the campaign. SH3 is a great game too only thing I didnt like was having to drag an drop the crew in an out of the sleeping quarters area's.

Please note: This is an opinion! YMMV!

SH3 lacks the elegant graphics and detailed simulation of SH4 and SH5, but for me it is the most immersive, hands down. This is purely subjective, but (with GWX and SH3Cmdr, of course), it provides me with the best sense of role-playing a submarine commander and having to make historically appropriate decisions. This in spite of the fact that my primary interest is not the U-Dienst, but the US Silent Service.

Yes, this is all subjective and personal taste.
But nowadays, i can't get immersion without a good eye candy at least...
When it looks too fake, 50% of enjoyment is gone for me, that's why i prefer SH5.
I could stay hours just watching the so nice sea and scenary rendering.
SH4 isn't bad at all, and it's a very stable game even modded.
SH3, i tried it again for some minutes with GWX3, but have to admit i gave up very quickly. Too many years from nowadays standarts...

My first wife was a model. Since then, eye candy has not been one of my priorities.

SH3 (GWX) is more fun.

I'm trying to get into SH5 but i'm struggling to be honest.

I loved the ones that worked.
I was on a break, came back and my games broke, can login but get kicked after a second. My career seems to be gone, I did get it to work once to find this out.
All my mods were over written by secret auto patch I bet, so that's three months of customizing wasted.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled this so many times that when I call to get a new license code, they know me by name.
I think I may just treat this game the same way I play.....dead is dead.

I tried to keep this from turning into another "complaint" thread. Please state which is your favorite, or post elsewhere.
