Default Water density Q?

I notice SH Commander has the ability to change the water density.

um, why ? is there a problem with the default density in the game ?

Tried the search but didn't find an explanation.

The default density is very clear, ie: unrealistic. The RUb mod made it very dense,ie: more realistc but too dense to enjoy the external underwater views. SH3 Cmndr lets you adjust the density so you can have it both ways.l

It's strange they referred to it as "density", and not "murkiness" or just a "scattering" coefficient. The density certainly changes with any kind of solute, but sodium chloride doesn't inhibit light transmission as more opaque (dirt, plakton) particulate matter.

The density could very well be 1050kg/m3, and still be "crystal clear" as a Mediterranean archipelago. It could easily be 1020kg/m3, and be as murky as a lake during the rainy season.

Incidently, where is the density variable found?

That's about the only thing I really hate about RUb. "Cheating" or not, I like watching those torpedoes cruise toward the hull.

In Sh3Cmndr main interface, click on SH3 Options, then gam,e Play Settings.

Love watching them leave the tubes and the impact!

As far as the label in SH3Cmdr goes, it's simply "density" for plain English reasons. "Water scattering coefficient", or even "Water murkiness" would not be as clear to all international users as the simple "Water density", the accepted vernacular. I could change it to "Water clarity", but really don't see the point, unless there's a huge push for it.
