Default Grampa Joe's boat.

Hey guys, SH5 is addictive!! And that's just in stock form! Between reading here on the forum and learning to hunt in-game I don't leave myself much time to post.

Well anyway, I thought some of you history buffs might be interested in the story of my Grandfather. This is the ship that wouild have carried him across the Channel to France on D-day: The USS Susan B. Anthony was the Flagship transport for the Normandy Invasion, was the sirst ship to sink at Normandy, after striking a mine, and is in the Guiness book of World records for the "largest ship to ship naval rescue, with zero loss of life".
Grampa Joe made it to France, but arrived on D-day+2

Thanks a bunch guys, Grandpa came home from the war in 1945 and became a mailman and raised a family. He suffered a stroke and in his later years but that didn't stop his Irish smile or keep him from having a beer every Saint Patricks Day, even when he had to have his nurse push his wheelchair down the block to the local bar. He died peacefully in his bed in 2002 surrounded by his family.

also, thanks for the heads up on the link, Schroeder, fixed!

Welcome aboard the Subsim boat Gunslinger.

Interesting story about your Grandfather. Thanks for sharing.

Now you have the special honor of personally checking the damage on all the ships we sink.
