I'm no blow in - my first uboat game was CAOD, I've modded my way through SH2, SH3, SH4, SH5 - but I have to say, the modding system is far too confusing.
20+ mods, in a specific order, plus requirements for user interaction. Then some fail - which ones? Wrong order? Who knows...I asked for help, got a specific mod order - it still failed. SH6 is ignoring SP - i am inclined to as well. Lay on McDuff - but just telling it like it is.

Thanks, thats one of the first places I looked - but theres a list of almost 30 mods there. It just proves my point, particularly if you follow the 'stable mod' list.
No antagonism - from 10+ years of patching multiple games, this is the most difficult. Just my opinion.

Con, take a look here..... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=203711 FiFi has 3 list options that work.
And make sure you download mods using 7Zip. Winrar, Zip Genius and others could and will corrupt the mod files causing installed mods to crash SH5. Know too that SH5 uses more processor speed and memory than 3 or 4 ever thought of. ![]()

I'm sure a veteran like you has thought of this but,
Did sh5 run well in stock b4 adding one mod at a time and testing with each new mod added? Mods don't always like each other. My system isn't yours so my mod list would be a suggestion. I totally avoid any mod that doesn't install with jsgme or needs any manual adjusting. For one thing, jsgme warns you if a mod overwrites another's files. Manual changes do not. Now...back off the mods from your list one by one until you get a good working game. Then you can add in one by one until you find the one that causes your problem. Detective work.

Con, if you're using JSGME, then you can plug in tested and working mod lists like Sober's and be sure of getting everything in the correct order. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=3492
It's a .mep file ready to use. Just unzip it to your Mods folder and use the JSGME Load mod profile task. Or you can copy and paste any of a number of posted mod lists from this forum, paste them into a blank Notepad file and save them to your mods folder as <whatever>.mep and you're good to go. Or you can rassle your own mod list together and when you have it right, use the JSGME Save mod profile task to make sure you only ever have to do it once. I use 80+ mods, and I would go crazy (crazier?) if I had to get the order right every time. Some mods, like New_UIs and the Patcher, both by TDW, require some interaction. although New_UIs can be used out of the box. Both are more involved to install than conventional mods, but they add hugely to the game, and there are excellent tutorials and guides around to help you set them up. And they are worth every bit of the effort! That said, SH5 may not be your cuppa. It's more structured and less open-ended than previous SH titles. If you are a logn-time subsim player, you really should give it a fair trial, though - and a fair trial would be NOT in its stock form! But if you're just frustrated by the number and complexity of the mods, don't despair! Help - in several forms - is available. And it's a gorgeous and richly detailed product when you finish. |

Thanks for the replies, I bought SH5 after release but I look in every now and again. SH5 stock worked fine after I upgraded GPU. My problem isnt performance but conflicts...
Ive tried numerous lists, including FiFi's list. Unfortunately mods arent linked, so i have to google them or search on forum.....so im not sure have i the latest. I got very few hits. Ive tried about 10 different combinations this evening - one seemed really promising but then was offering me LUT torps in 1939, and there were no mission available except some weird mission garbled text. This was my latest - if its the wrong order - probably. Generic Mod Enabler - v2.4.0.145 [C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS] Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_byTheBeast Equip_Upgrades_Fix_1_4_AFFOE_151 FX_Update_0_0_19_ByTheDarkWraith NewUIs_TDC_7_3_0_ByTheDarkWraith IRAI_0_0_30_ByTheDarkWraith IRAI_0_0_30_No_hydrophone_on_surface_No_Aircraft_s potting OPEN HORIZONS II_full v2 TDW_Mines_Subnets_Detectable_in_hydro (OH II v2)

Make a fresh install.. start new career.. once you are in the bunker then reload last save.. I mean autosave.. do it at the start of each new campaign..

Thanks guys, no luck though. i started multiple campaigns - same thing happened. There are no crosses to select a mission on map - theres a box hanging hqlf out of the screen, i can just click the corner, then it gives me a mission in 1939 in the arctic, text is corrupt, etc. This is now happening with OHII only activated.

Arrrgh - i knew i forgot something, sorry. I had been using winrar - so i downloaded 7zip and tried that. Seems to be working again now with OHII only.
So i better redownload them all and try with that tool instead. Fingers crossed, thanks everyone for the help.

downloading the first of fifi's list - the shortest one. I notice it doesnt have magnum opus - just OHII. Some other lists have them both...
graphics and eye candy not my main thing, i prefer gameplay, Ai especially.
