Default First Chinese Naval visit to Sydney

http://china-defense.blogspot.com.au...in-sydney.html

Apparently its to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and China. AFAIK this is the first visit to Sydney of a Chinese warship. Hope we don;t share too much with them, but then again they might just be down here as a scouting party for our new owners.

There are chinese plans to build their own Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, at a third of the cost you paid (in money! It'll cost 1,000 lives in the process). They're just there to measure up.

Good opportunity to place a mine on their hull!

Just in case the 40 years of "diplomatic relations" lead to 40 days of "robust negotiations".

Maybe they're looking to pick up another cheap Aircraft carrier?

Not sure that a Canberra class will help'm out much though!

Well, you know how it is, they'll visit and, an hour later, they'll want to visit again...

Meh, we've been visiting them before. I'll take this opportunity to say why the Collins class are actually good.

The Collins class are the first modern submarines to have been designed and built in Australia. Remember the first ever U-boat sortie of WWI, and the troubles that they experienced? That's exactly what's happening to us, but on a somewhat smaller scale. It's trial and error.

Personally, I think we should focus on building a reliable sub, while building up the submarine fleet with foreign export types, like the type 209 U-boat.

As far as I'm aware the Collins class have been a big let down for Australia added to the fact there are insufficient crews for them even if they were serviceable.
