Well, this is awkward...

Hmm. Turns out that Silent Hunter 5 wasn't crashing because of the fact that I was playing on a laptop...it's because I made different save files whenever I encountered a convoy. Now, rather than taking 18 minutes for the menu to load, it takes 30 seconds, and I can play for two hours straight.

I save just before encountering convoys all the time, surfaced and below. Actually I save everytime I come across enemy convoys or Task Forces, and I've had no CTDs so far.

How much memory does you laptop have and what OS are you running? Graphics card and it's memory too?

That's because I was making a different save for each encounter, i.e. Konvoi1, Konvoi3, Konvoi4, etc.

Same here Mat... one save for every convoy I meet up with.

Dunno it this is your problem, but old savegames will most likely crash your game, if your mod soup has changed from when you saved them.

Shouldn't be awkward at all. You figured out what was wrong, and you shared how to fix it.That's a good thing.
