It's not the server itself, It's the server that connecting to another server where the character data stored.

I committed my first murder today. I'm generally a good-natured player, but when you mix distrust of other players with available explosives, even I cave in to dastardly temptation.

I had an M203 grenade for my M4 for quite a while now (I've been alive for about 16 hours in my current life), and I was really curious to see it in action. While giving a friend of mine overwatch as he checked out a store in town, I saw a player who was clearly not him - and then it turned out to be 2 of them, raiding a building nearby. I watched them for a while, and when they got out of there, they looked really careless and bunched up together. I couldn't resist and before I knew it, my grenade was flying directly on their heads. The first guy was dead within a few seconds (not instantly - massive wounds, I assume), while the other guy eventually bumped into my friend as he stumbled back into the town. I suspect he was wounded pretty badly too, because my friend finished him off with ease.

I feel like a real jerk, a little bit, but I also can't say I wasn't amused. Especially having watched my friends die of stupid causes or sneaky snipers before, I can't deny that it was a huge feeling of power and mischeviousness when I launched that grenade and got them from long range. They probably never knew what hit them.

Fortunately for the DayZ playing community, I have no more grenades and plenty of guilty conscience afterwards

(And yeah, I totally am 100% a jerk for doing that Judging by their equipment, those players were at it for a few hours when I nailed them).

Got connected to a server with two mates from II/JG53 (Recruiting now), and managed to navigate our way to meet up without getting killed. We've found a couple of buildings with just about everything we need including matches, knife, bandages, bullets and a couple of meaty weapons. Now we've just got to stick together and try to stay alive for a bit.

Finally died today on my current life (20 hours, just shy of 300 zombies killed) - we went to the airfield with a group of friends, and everything was going well until the very end where a series of mistakes snowballed, and then got taken advantage of by other players. 2 out of 6 of us didn't make it out, and the raid turned out to be more or less a total waste. Technically I should've lived after this, because I was out of the airfield and out of ammo, where I should've just kept my head down for a bit, but I had to go back to save my friends who were still stuck in the perimeter. As I tried to guide them off the field, zombies and a pair of other players crashed our rescue effort and shot me. Before I died, I lobbed my last grenade at the players that got me - didn't kill them, but I think it wounded them and attracted a lot of zombies on their heads. According to my friends, they later found them dead. The remaining 3 of my group made it out of there successfully and patched each other up.

After various respawns, prolonging my average life and being shot by 8 people out of 10, I think I have found myself in my most interesting attempt for survival so far.

At start i was able to enter only on a UK server, with 3rd person and the white dots, i had patch 1.7.4 and inside cherno it was simply a slaughterfest of newbies with these extra zeds. anyways i managed to crawl and slowly make my way to the outer hospital, seing already 5 people getting chased by zeds. the comms were full of people asking for help in the : ''my bones'', ''where r u'','' morphine pls'', ''I need blood''... I didnt care much, it was too much crowd into the city.. until i see someone on chat asking for desperate help on a village north-north-west of chernogorosk(Kozlovka). He needed morphine and blood , i thought a bit, entered the hospital and made my Alice pack ( from one of those chased and killed by zeds) full of blood, morphine, epi pen , etc, only 1 soda, 3 cans. I replied i d come and after 15 mins i reached him. the house being circled by dead and alive zeds. I managed to sneak , i found him. I entered inside, gave him the morphine and i also gave him blood, only to be told he had only 200/1200 and i capped him with the transfusion. he had some a revolver and when he attempted to go out 5-8 zeds came, we shot them fortunately ( i mainly axed them with little damage). THen i told him to follow me and we crawled, with alive zeds nearby into the forest. He was thankful etc and only thing i wanted to ask to him was a water bottle and he gave it to me. Then lost connection to the server.

When it was night i made an attemp in playing at evening/night in the german servers looking only for 3rd person, no other helps. Hopefully at pogorevka i was able to spot the church from distance, entered and went even more north west. I found the most valuable tool: the compass. I went to some military watch camps finding nothing :/ then went to the market pushtoska ( sighting a person on a bike being chased by zeds luckily he didnt see me and come towards me). now i went by the edge of the west map , making the tour of the military watch camps , finding only a military torch
This morning i went more north, north of the airbase, went to a water pond to refill water and now i am between the mountain north of the base and the devil castle. Neither in the vanilla game i had the chance to see it, but i heard that many bandits are going there, but also at the base. ''Devil's Castle'' sounds intriguing to me + the chance to find possible some loot, from the place and from them

I am full of food for the next play hours, i also have sodas, 3-4 makarov mags , the hatchet, 2 torches ... for the first time after quite hours of game i am full on blood too
i was lonewolf apart from that attempt to save a person and now still a lone survivor .....what should i do .... seems i may go to both hotzones, or shall i continue my lone trip to the east to Gorka and then to Berezino?

i am at the airbase, i heard two shots from a sniper. after 3 mins i see many zeds running somewhere, at least they clear me the road ...
and i see a person with a bike or motorcycle ...

it was good day , in the end i died as i found a person with a sniper vest right in front of me. shoot me at close range only to die...

Edit: Respawned , with nerves for being killed. I find a revolver. While i turn a corner suddenly something pops infront of me and i shoot , to find out I left a survivor with the coyote backpack in shock and bleeding, with an Ak-47 on his back... i thought that because he was ended i should make it quick and i fired a 2nd shot to the head. now i am out electro with full supplies, and ak 47 with 4 mags, a sniper camo and matches, ready for the wilderness

Got it working, died once on first spawn, then on second killed five - luckily I found an axe at the airbase. But now, I'm bandaged up, dosed up on painkillers and have a broken leg (I think - can't walk).

It's quite addictive, my first encounter had my hairs on my arms raised, can't wait to find some firepower.

My friend recommended me this and I am enjoying it so far. On my first game, he offered me the opportunity to join his little group he had going. The group was fairly well armed and was stocked up on equipment. He and the team had managed to screw around with another group of survivors and had started a stupid clan war of sorts. Thankfully, no one died. Later, we decided the best choice of action was to head to a small village east of our current position. After asking him why we were heading there he replied "it's off the grid". We get there and the whole place is crawling with the undead. One of our "friends" tried to kill us. The tables were turned and I was ordered to salvage his gear. At last I had a weapon (AKM). Of course it was not long before it started getting really hairy. A horde of zombies began advancing over a hill in front of a house we had hauled up in. It was all very last standy. I felt somewhat safe as my job was to cover a second floor window. After a while of gunfire and death the zombies overan the house. I leapt out the window and left my friends to die. I felt very guilty but I kept telling myself that atleast a few would survive. Later I hauled myself in a building in the middle of nowhere as it got dark and it got really jumpy. I thought a bandit was screwing around so I jumped out and shot him. Turns out it was my friend who was heavily wounded. I had no medical supplies so I shot him. Now I am currently looking for the others.

Excuse the stupid question.. but I never bought Arma II. So many games so little time. I see that Steam has Combined Ops for $29.99 right now. Is that all I would be required to purchase to run this mod? Thanks!
