Well, there really isn't anything in Utah worth seeing, at least naval-wise.

Yeah but there's always Area 51, and the Jazz but since the NBA season is over by the time I get there I've got no hope of catching an NBA game.

IF you guys are ever in the Illinois Area, headed towards Chicago, let me know. I'm not exactly a tour guide but I can be helpful in finding Navy Pier, the MSI (Museum of Science and Industry, where the U-505 is) And some other things.

Mostly, I can introduce you to all the cooooooooooooooorn

Any more recommendations? I leave the wintery shores of Australia this week Thursday. Excitement for the trip is building quickly. I do plan to visit the Chicago MSI for U-505 on Saturday or Sunday. Depends on when I get over the jet lag. If any members are up for a trip to see 505 let me know. Just look for the Aussie with a Nikkon D40 DSLR wandering around the museum.

Could hit up Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Arguably one of the most important places of the Manhattan Project.

How are you getting around? Car? Plane? Houston is only 3 hours west of NO, let me know if you make it this way. There's a submarine and a battleship down here I could show you.

Mostly busses/trains. Don't think I have time left to get an international driving permit which would let me drive around.

I'm visiting Chicago for 5 days, New Orleans for another 5, Orlando for 4, NYC 2 days (returning later in the trip), DC for 5, Boston for 5, Niagra Falls overnight. Toronto for 3 days, then NYC for 5. Cleveland overnight, visiting the USS Cod while I'm there. Toledo/Detroit for a night. Then Hawaii for 2 days where I'm planning on spending a day wandering around the Pearl attack memorial, and I have 4 hours free in LA before I fly home.

Post lots of photos of Pearl Harbo(u)r. I've never been there and I want to go.

Too bad you're not doing the West Coast (Washington and/or Oregon).

You're missing out on this:
