Been using the Pilot G-2 for a little over a year now. Love the way it fits the hand and survives the washing machine!

Ran the last one dry and haven't replaced it yet, so I'm using an old Uni-ball ONYX micro I found in my desk.

Whenever I actually have to resort to using a pen, I will most likely find myself with a ballpoint. I have the uncanny ability to render any pen I use inoperable within minutes to hours of touching it (The same thing that keeps killing my headphones, I'm certain), and those are usually the most common ones in hand when I have to throw the old one into my expanding collection of worthless writing instruments.

I think cost has a lot to do with it, a well known high street stationers has the cheapest online FP at £7.99, or a pack of ten ball points for £5.19, or 30 gel pens for £12.99

Crack. Oh, you meant for writing? Cheap ballpoints, almost exclusively promo gifts.
As kids we were told to use a pen in school, as ink was easier to delete. Some folks also said that ballpoints could ruin your handwriting - not much to detroy here...

You are aware that unattended ballpoints get warped to a planet which only hosts Biro life forms, aren't you?

That is because you need to apply constant pressure when using a BP, with a FP it is different pressure has nothing to do with whether it writes or not but with the width of the line.

They told us so in elementary school, when the handwriting was still developing. We first used some kind of "crayon pens", later, also pencils were allowed. That's why I found it quite odd to say a ballpoint would ruin it, as I don't see the difference in pressure to crayon/pencils.

Regarding the example: Your handwriting looks the best with the Parker, though not too much difference towards the ballpoint, but the readability is much better, due to color and no broken lines.

@ convoy hunter: They're all pretty good. I can read them easily, and that makes them better than mine.

Parker Vector. The cheapest of the Parker models. Actually, my 4 or 5th one, plus I had one Parker with its "body" made of epoxy resin instead of plastic like in Vector.

Is your handwriting that bad, because others always complain about my writing

Most lefties like me don't get along with fountain pens very well.

I use a plain old Bic
