This is looking really good. I've been trying to get started modelling, and have been trying to learn Wings3D, without much luck. Based on what you're doing I've downloaded GMax and taken a first look at it. It looks pretty cool.

Would anyone know what how to write the .sim .cam .dat .dsd .sns .val .eqp and .von files. I know how to open them, and save a file as one, but I don't know what is actually in them

Your best bet would be to use the S3D Editor. It's an amazing tool that allows you to view (and edit) many of the key in-game files. Full details can be found in the thread here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119571

Hope it helps and keep up the good work!

Default New blueprints = New model

Hi all, sorry for the delay, but I was searching for the camouflage to make textures, when I stumbled on this:
http://support.caswellplating.com/in...ubmarine-plans

So seeing as this has more detail, I shall be re-modeling the entire thing. And to top it off, as some of you know, I have joined the U-Boot_HAHD 3d modeling team, so that will slow progress slightly.

================================================== ======================================
Edit: does anyone know how to convert .pdf's to .jpg?

Gmax Problem

I've tried to put the new blueprints on in Gmax, use them as textures to go off on planes, anyway, they turn out like this.

and they should look like this

This happens to any bitmap, jpeg or just about any picture file I try. Does anyone know what is going on?

You are in luck, i've had this problem with 3ds Max.

Click Customize at the top of your screen, then preferences, viewports, configure driver, and then tick "match bitmap size as closely as possible".

That should solve your problem.

Every time I read a thread like this I realize just how little I know...

And how grateful I am for the people that do know.

Very interesting as a laymen to see how it comes together.

Here's a link that should help you setup blueprints for GMax.
It's for 3Ds Max but it's the same deal.

http://www.the-blueprints.com/tutorials/3dmax/

For Max users? There is a Blueprints Manager script that is killer.
