I'm not wanting to be drawn into anything of a controversial nature on this thread because it does need moderating but whatever your opinions of him are...he is currently the elected leader (Queens First Minister) of this country and as such he will make the initial decisions as to how the situation will be dealt with.

Well, if all this topic has done is show me two potentials for my ignore list that's a good thing er..?

Disaffected poor, freebooters... all part of the recession package, nothing to see here.

Meanwhile what may have been important as regards this story developing, is lost in the general furore, bit like parts of this thread really

God the ignore function is a godsend
Going back to the events tonight, does anyone live near the affected areas?
Also,I think one way the government could solve Britain's crime levels is to employ vigilantes, seriously, they could take the extra strain from the police and help to maintain order.Think about it,some of these guys love to fight as it is,and paying them a handsome reward would be even more incentive to smash the faces in on these revolting criminals.
I heard one bloke on the TV describing how he had lost his furniture shop which was generations old,I almost wept myself for him.

It's completely out of control now, the police are outnumbered and overstretched. Incredible...absolutely incredible...this must dwarf any previous London riot in terms of scope. If this continues into a fourth night the Met riot squad are going to be a desperate need of reinforcements, this is just too widespread for them to respond to every single flare up...and even when they do respond the rioters just melt away before they can be arrested.

I can scant believe it.

I personally think there should be at the very least a military presence now,the country is practically under siege!,and it needs lifting,by force of arms.
Whats your take on this idea?
