Well considering they would need the permission of the state legislation in order to do this, I would say this is a non issue.

Nothing new. California's been having that discussion for as long as I can remember.

"Sell"? The Mexicans have complained for years that we stole that land, but I'll bet we'd have to pay them to take it back.
On the other hand, given the current population there...

If you're going to split a state, do it during a civil war or some other national calamity.
It worked for West Virginia. ![]() ![]() |

Living in Texas, I can assure you that concept is very real in the minds of many Mexicans.

We never "invaded" or "took" Texas anyhow. They seceded from Mexico, and then wanted to become a state (memory might not serve correct there) The entire issue makes me fightin mad - especially when I run into those people that think America is Satan and that our existence is wrong. I should stop before I start swearing. Quote:

![]() Santa Ana couldn't get many Mexicans to move to the wasteland that was Texas, so when Gringos volunteered to work the land (or rather have their slaves do so) El Presidente was delighted. He was a little less happy when they decided to become an independent country, and even less so when they succeeded in seceding. Then 1845 came along and they asked to become a US state. Santa Ana (who had been removed from power after the loss of Texas but then made a comeback) warned us that if the US took in Texas it would mean war. At that time we were warned by both Britain and France that Mexico had the best Napoleonic army in the world. We still managed to win all the battles and the war, and took the rest of Norte Americano as a prize. At one point the Mexican Congress was even trying to get us to annex the whole country, but President Polk objected and our Congress said no, but thanks anyway, and here we are with them subtly trying to take it back by invading one person at a time. Seriously, though, the best book I've read on the subject was So Far From God, by General John Eisenhower (son of Dwight and father of David). http://www.amazon.com/So-Far-God-Mex.../dp/0806132795

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. I wouldn't go back for a million dollars. In the first place I don't speak the language.
I don't know if any of you checked out the census map but some areas of SO. Cal are over 90% Hispanic. Mapping the 2010 U.S. Census - NYTimes.com Not saying it will happen but it might. Magic
