Default Who else could put out a better subsim than Ubisoft

Who else could:

-Release a game with few bugs, on a flexible release schedule when the product is damned good and ready such as Valve Software uses

-Give you a product that doesn't exit the mission when you lose your internet connectivity

-Create a subsim where the crew not only goes to bed when they're tired but also mans their stations, eats, does crossword puzzles, farts, looks at pictures of home, goes to the head, participates in drills, pipes news from home over the PA system, keeps track of the soccer scores back home, basically does everything the crew did in Das Boot and more...

...and I'm thinking Electronic Arts....follow me on this one....and imagine, over the head of whichever crew member you select, would be this shiny green plumb bob...

...in...

Hi:

Who? modders, Famous game company? anyone, because submarine simulator community is very small = NO money. I thx Ubisoft because at least he "tried" doing submarine games for pc, now we have 3 series to play and MOD.

Only an indie would bother with a submarine sim this day and age. Publishers like EA wouldn't touch this genre with a 12 foot pole. Too much investment for too little return.

After seeing how EA has completely porked every IP they've gotten their hands on, they're the last publisher I'd want touching a sub sim.

As you describe. $500.00 games don"t sell to well.

Blizzard Entertainment.

A serious company that puts Quality at the first place. I have seen what they have done with the Masterpiece called Starcraft II Wings of Liberty, I have great expectations for Diablo III and I'm sure they will be up to the task.

A sim made by such company would be excellent.

Another candidate is Bioware (now and EA Brand), Lovely games...

What do you think?

Blizzard do put out quality games.

But one of the main reasons is because the games that they make are huge money makers..... I would seriously doubt that they even consider making a game that is for a niche market. And pump as much money into a game that is not going to sell millions of copies.

Quality game cost lots of money to make and the return on a sub sim wouldn't be worth pumping huge amount of money into.

Hench why SH5 is unfinished. Ubi didn't see this game selling millions of copies, so wouldn't extend the due date to when it would be ready. As doing so would mean less profit (IF they even made a profit from it).

Ideally a wealthy, bored SH5 player would buy the rights to it and start a software company to further develop and finish SH5

Hard to say. Who has expertise in the Submarine sims?
And... the question is not being specific enough.
The question should have included "...uncompleted"?

Wouldn't be a fair contest if the new dev had a good crack at it. Until the end, ie a finished product.

MMMHHH...

I've visited their site...not bad. They could make a nice simulator, but the only sims are about aircrafts and helicopters...

Like Ducimus stated, no big publisher will get involved with a historical WWII sub-sim.

If anyone, Paradox might take a crack at it. They're are currently working on a naval game (actually, Turbo Tape Games; Paradox is publishing), but even that is stated to sacrifice some realism for gameplay (not a bad thing imho, but it's not what SH is about). And it also focuses on larger scale naval engagements, not the niche-within-a-niche that is WWII (or any era, really) submarines.

I guess there's Stardock as well, but I don't see them getting involved with naval games anytime soon.

Think there were some rumors going around about Valve doing a sub-game, but that was based on the fact that at some point in the distant past they worked on one for a bit. Not exactly compelling. And probably wouldn't be a sim.

And there's Akella. They do quite a few games that prominently feature the high seas... not sure how likely that is though. Their offering that comes closest, PT Boats, fell a little short of expectations, so they're likely burned on the genre as well.

Not a chance in hell Eagle Dynamics is even remotely thinking about submarines at the moment. Maybe Sonalysts could pull something off, but again I would expect something along the lines of Fleet Command/Dangerous Waters... never know though, they are far from out of the game.
