No. Its no fun website either.
Or more precise, the artist, a French photographer has edited the photos to arrange the interaction between bystanders and the location, but the heaps of boxes and things on the bikes nevertheless are real. He added persons and objects and accentuated colours and espeically the contraqst between fore- and background, in order to reach the effect that the already huge heaps of things against the background appear to be even bigger. http://www.spiegel.de/auto/fahrkultu...739273,00.html Quote:
I have seen such bikeloads on TV also, in docus about China and Vietnam.

If they are empty boxes, we used to see this sort of stuff in Korea too.

Indeed it is not much weight in most cases, the boxes on the first pic for example are described as empty "gift-boxes". It's all about balancing the whole thing.

It is photoshopped. Even if the contents were light like cerial the mass would weigh over 1000 lbs. The wheels would bend and the tires pop. The shadows don't look right and even empty boxes would most likely flip the driver backwards.

It is photoshopped in that the people and some items standing on the street, as well as background and foreground, have been composed and copied, thats why there are graphical artifacts, like non-matching shadows and people gazing odd. But I take it from the article and the picture texts that the main motive, the bicycle riders, are real. The pictures have composed and edited toi maximise the contrast between modernity and backwardedness, and to show the giant buildings of the baqckground against the giant loads of the simple people with their bikes, says the text.
It is looking odd, and I would think "photoshop" too - if only I would not understand the texts and the article differently.
