Default Watch problem?

I was doing my TC 1 mission and I woke up to change my crew, and I noticed A FREAKING MERCHANT OFF MY PORT BOW AT 5000 METERS. Why didn't my watch report this?

What was your watch's efficiency level in the green bar?

Was it clearly visible or only so-so through fog/bad weather/darkness?

What version are you patched up to?

You were sleeping?! That'll teach yah!

My watch was up about 59%. And I was sleeping because thats normally what people do at 3 in the morning. And the weather was clear, and it was day. Patched up to 1.4

The watch crew isn't always eager to share their discoveries with you. It might be due to pent up resentment from you getting to sleep while they suck on waves. Nonetheless, sometimes the watch will goof up. It's a bug. Periodic hydrophone sweeps (with you at the controls) seems to be the most efficient way I know of to catch up with enemy shipping. Depending entirely on your watch crew is a good way to get your boat sunk.

You can rely on them for the most part, but you shouldn't put all of your lives in their hands
I almost jumped into the ceiling yesterday when my first notification of an enemy ship was a very loud explosion on the bridge

DAMMIT. I swear, this time I am majorly pissed. The sonarman just five minutes ago failed to audibly report a sonar contact. Perhaps I still have time to scramble to pursue

Maybe they reported the contact when the merchant still was far away and you did't hear it. Some time happened to me.

Another thing is that the crew doesn't actualice the info, once they "sing" the contac, they will not tell you again, only if the contact is lost and reagained.

I have...radio log, german crew cheers, NeuUZO&Periv2, internal life mod, and thats it. As for that sonar contact, I have a intercept course set to blow it up on...monday? Thanks for the tip, I dove to peri depth and my sonar guy picked up that ship and updated the contact, its heading north instead of NE now that helps.

Does this happen when you're under high time compression or even under 1x TC?

What do you mean?

That they are telling you and you just didn't notice while you were out snoring?

Or are you confirming that the magnitude of the problem is worse than you thought?

The magnitude is worse than I thought. Much worse. I don't think I'll play a TC 1x mission after this, if it is a bug, Ubisoft will never fix it because they don't care about us sub simmers.
