If you look at what is under the hood of sh5 you'll see its there just need turned on or fixed or scripted. SH5 release state doesn't represent the games potential at all.

In time we'll be huging our sh5 boxes saying I'm going back to SH5 "SuperModName" because SH7 is crap, or what ever the game of the year is.

Thanks!
TheDarkWraiths Multi UI mod. must have. and due to the REDICULOUS spawn times and how it takes 6 months to find 1 type of ship, i suggest using Lite Campaign. And depending on whether or not you like the fact that 1 torpedo rarely kills anything but a destroyer and under, critical hit torpedoes arent bad either. although sometimes you can kill a little too easy, so you know it up to you.

The only thing I'd add to that is TDW's Ai mod, which rocks

ANY Mod, Large or Small brings this game, and SH3 or 4 for that matter, closer to what the game should have been and to what the community wants the game to be.

The simple fact that you state these small little Mods are doing Nothing Much to improve the game is a slap in the face to a Modder. All Modders start off somewhere. If you've just shunned the work of a beginner Modder who has released something not ground breaking, but at least improves the game a little bit, you've just given him a reason to quit. Like we all say Modders are people who work for free, out of their love for the game and the happiness it brings them.

Shunning their work may not stop them from creating Mods but it may stop them from releasing those mods, however small, to the community.

Thanks.

A little respect is all that's needed in this world

If you want a list of respected Mods or "must have's" go to the Mod Loadout/Order thread (or something along those lines) there is a lot of good information in there

Cheers,

nicely said, and the game could be pretty much flawless and there would still be mods. too add onto and improve it. theres no full potential for any game that can be modded, because people like it differently, play differently, and that what mods are all about. improving the game on a PERSONAL level. many people can like the same thing, which is the main reason modders make it, but also to personalize that one group who maybe doesnt want more realism/ wants to see what it would be like to drop a nuclear torpedo in a large convoy. and theres always going to be people who like it differently. and after the modders have squelched all big requests they start going down and down until their making mods for single people's requests and whoever else who wants to try it.. so technically a game can never reach full potential, as this is an opinion. also why they made multiple SH4 supermods cause not everyone wanted to use TMO or wanted to use RFB.

p.s: sorry for posting so much in this thread

Its actually the opposite.. I think the modders are GOD! I already admitted I Loved GWX for SH3!
I remember when we all talked about how horrible SH5 when we all just got it. We all hoped Modders were going to revive this game one day.. All I am saying, except for small stuff here and there, not much has changed.. In terms of GWX for SH3.

I am sure they will be able to do it, maybe not, from what I remember a modder saying it was impossible for a GWX in SH5?

**** GWX! Get over it already. The modders have made SH5 a joy and continue to improve it. You'd know if you played it instead of the usual blind bashing that goes on here.

I find myself musing at how funny it is that some people expect some good samaritan to fix all the games problems for them, and then hand them the fix on a silver platter, for absolutely free. Some of these same people will, later on, turn around and bitch about it because it doesn't meet their personal wants in the game, and how that SoanSo could have done a better.

I love that ****. Truly I do.

Lol, exactly the same reason I tell ppl who whine to quit being a little sissy and start modding out the problems you whine so much about

Just look at SteelViking. He wasn't happy with the state of the game and decided to start modding and look at all the great things he's released in such a short time that enhance the game no end. My utmost respect to SteelViking for doing that , if only there were more like him.

I popped in here after taking a few months off from the SH franchise and was struck by the same thing as the OP. I can see the tremendous improvement to the core gameplay through new UIs, AI, interiors, etc., but I suppose I'm more disheartened by the lack of any progress in improving the campaign or adding to the pitifully short roster of merchant shipping.

What people either fail to realize, or choose to ignore, is that for the 'pitifully short merchant roster', which I agree is completely lacking, is set as it is until privateer finishes his object importer.

Privateer has made a ton of headway in giving us the ability to create and import objects into the submarine and game. As for the campaign, I too am surprised at the amount of work that could be done. Albeit, I would try to fix it but I would probably do more damage anything (a la Ubisoft )

Cheers,

Krauter

Patience is very much a necessary trait for both submarine commanders and submarine simulation enthusiasts.
