Hi
Well I have 2 questions but these are on different topics so I'll post my 2nd ? in another post. I have always died when a compartment is flooded. I can see the main compartment (Command Room.) I am talking about a room like the AFT Torp room. or another room that is not meaninful to the op of a sub room. I have seen many movies where the sub laid on the ocean floor until the damage was repaired. I understand they were movies but Ships/Subs etc... actually flooded some areas to balance out the ship. Can you still finish your patrol w/ a flooded compartment w/out ending the game? or that patrol? |

I know flooding hurts trim a lot. Whether it is fatal, left unchecked, I don't know. Are the compartments watertight?
The reason I do not know is that I have never tested letting a compartment stay flooded ... either I sink, because I cannot repair the damage before I am sunk, or I survive the attack and manage to get it pumped. But since every compartment is "meaningful," I probably won't try to test it... get it pumped, and now, is my general order.

Never allow a compartment to become completely flooded because it will either destroy your boat or drag it into the depths were the hull will fail due to extreme pressure and the consequent crushing.

Hi
thanks for the answers... What I was refering to is Say if my Aft Torp room was completly flooded why would I die/sink or otherwise loose the mission. I know that every room is meaningful but what if the room floods and I just right off that room due to a heavy loose plus I had an exhausting TOD already and other concerns needed my immediate attn like I need to pump out a more valuable room instead etc... I'm not saying this because I want to do it I'm just asking since this can happen but I need to continue the mission. |

As soon as you can get an officer and a petty officer qualified for damage control. They will save your life

Meanwhile, remember that a submarine is designed to sink. One compartment full of water - especially one at the ends - will drag the boat down, and there's nothing you can do about it.
The aft torpedo room on a u-boat is also the e-machine room, so if it's flooded the underwater motors won't work. Blowing ballast at that point is pretty much useless.
