How do I get range with no visual?

I just got into SHIV a couple weeks ago and learned the Dick O'Kane method of targeting. Had a blast not even having to go to periscope depth.

Is there any way to get range without visual? The US boat could ping via hydrophone. Not so with this?

its pretty simple, just use the map tools and drag a line from your sub to the end of the acustic sonar contact to get the excact range.

If you make a X on the end of the line, wait 10 seconds and do the same + connect the 2 X with a line than you have the target course + bearing

im able to get a full fire solution just with using the hydrophone. you can also fire torps below the periscope deep.

How do you get the manual targeting controls without the scope locked on target?
