I would just like to say that if I was the developer of the game and I had less than a year to do the game, I wouldn't loose too much time with where every exact rivet is in the boat. Instead, I would focus on the stable game and solid AI. The rest will be added / built by moders anyway.

Besides, if you have every constructed, built, did anything - you know that sometimes it is much easier for someone who isn't involved on the project to give constructive criticism or spot something you have missed.

Besides, it's only a matter of time before such accuracy finds its way into SH5 - what you see there in SH3 is certainly not only doable in SH3.
While i partly aggree, and in fact would take sh5s interiors over sh3s anytime i must say that modders are subject to the same limitations too.
System specs, the mod was initially tested on my 1.2GHz pIII/512Mb ram xp machine, try running shV on that!
Cost, well i had a max budget of £5000 and spent most of that on 3ds max 2010... and some cake
Schedule, well there you have me, there is nobody cracking the whip for me to finish, but i will say that from concept to having it in game for just the diesel room took 4 days.

Very nice. Modders really are miracle workers.
....I agree and someday we'll see miracles like those in SHV. Time to time.

Nice work Flakmonkey.
I take the topic of tris1066 from the ubi.com forum here to subsim.com.

I hope that you spent your time and ethusiasm again in SH5.

Sh5 U boat just looks too big, and I think they are using 120 watt light bulbs. Maybe the boat was rewired inthe 1980s?

Those guys in the bunks need a couple of buckets or the P.O. is going to be PO'd.

Anyway these things should be moddable. SH4 got crew added and SH3 has been transformed. I just hope it dosnt take 5 or 6 years to get SH5 to where it should be.

I think the a modded SH3 looks way better than SH5, but i also want to know what mod brings you the Officer Quarters, i thought FM and DD only working on the Aft Parts.
I want some real source infos...

Or is this maybe an extra piece from DD and FM for the Final Version.

It is still my new interiors mod, the final aim is to have the whole sub modelled, the officers quarters have been added recently and were not there in the beta version.
Its still a bit of an unknown if the game engine will survive me adding the fore/aft torpedo rooms aswell. Although since DD recently managed to increase the fps by 100% or more its now my personal mission to lower it again

omg! this is too much flakmonkey! thank you! im thinking we should set up and make a small paypal donation for you and then you can take yourself and family out to a nice dinner as a gift. If the lot of us give $1 or so each it would add up to enough for a nice dinner with a good beer!

True. Difference is the people making those games are professionals. Working in a productive environment with set schedules, one would expect of them to be able to cope with this, and deliver quality regardless. Looking at some preview screens of SH5 though, makes me believe they took some shortcuts in development phase. Those textures slapped on the instruments look mighty familiar ...
