Wonder why they gave some dodgey website a review copy and not the number one source for all things subsim?

If I was Neal I would be a bit miffed.
Its a ( / the? Dont know the market shares ...) major German PC games magazine and I assume they refer to the old review version that had only some single missions in it. Not giving it to them would kind of leave a big dent in advertizing SH5 in Germany. Especially among the new, young target group!

But I agree, the stuff they wrote is crap. Last time I checked they simply had noone left that was responsible for simulations so I assume they put someone on it that simply has no idea what the difference between a battleship and a destroyer is.

Uh, there are actually news in there (if they are reliable)!

Quote:
Rough translation:

Quote:
Meanwhile, the allies adjust their reactions to the player, send support or withdraw task forces. You can not win the war, but you influence the events to a certain degree. Your performance in the battle of Malta has a major influence on the war in africa, for example.
I assume they actually asked and got an answer and are not just guessing.

Oh, and one other thing:

Quote:
Quote:
In the fifth part they concentrate on the most frequently used and sunk submarine, the Type VII of the German Reichmarine. Other modells are not included, as they played no major role between '39 and 43'
Yeah, right. Operation drumbeat and the closing of the Saint Lawrence River for international shipping? Nah, no biggies. But I assume they were not allowed to write "other types are not included because UBI ran out of time and would rather ship the game that way".

Thanks for the link Ishigami!

That's priceless.. I am using Opera and I had it speak that to me.. nearly fell of my chair.. Gotta love bad translations..

Games very pretty to look at, that's for sure. But as someone else has said.. "pretty graphics don't make a good game"

The game was hide and seek, played over a million square miles of ocean. The losers died.

SH5 is like that girl in high school.

She's hot but she's dumber than a bag of broken tools.

Those screens are beautiful. I'd love to have my hands on a full version right now. Because if we only get the med theatre I'm out. I prefer hunting the high seas of the central Atlantic.

On the observation scope - its always up because on the surface because on the surface it can see farther than your watch crew. Ok ... .not really - its up because they have Bernard spinning it in circles in the control room while everyone else is trying to live thru the war.

No?

Ok fine - then chalk it up to the reviewer/tester having little knowledge of how submarines actually work, so he/she forgot to lower the thing.
