Yep, it would be 122 days, but said in an nonsense way, to mean that it will be a long time and even then not guaranteed. Inspired by 'The League Of Gentleman' where Tubbs prices something up as 'Eleventy Twelve pounds' as she isn't used to having customers.

another on modding, this one i have to ask since it's a part i enjoyed by SH4;any idea on the format of the templates of the sub and coningtower?
it's just that i like to make my own emblems for each commander i play(commander 1 has it's emblem and when he goes down with his sub i start again as commander 2 with another emblem).

Save it as a bitmap or PNG and you won't go wrong.

Assuming the game sells then new modders will come (especially if the game comes with modding tools) and given the natural progression of things I'd say there's a good chance that the new modders will be slightly better at modding than the modders we've had before. It's nice that people here have such high respect for the modders who gave us so much in SH3 and SH4, but those guys are not the only talent around and I do wish people wouldn't get so melodramatic about the fact that some of them have boycotted SH5.

When will new mods come out? The only thing I have to add on that subject that hasn't already been said is that supermods always take ages, and sometimes don't even get finished, so don't hold your breath for something like "GWX5".

so,wouldn't it be possible to create that mod in the community?
So let me get this straight.. you are saying you want the modders to crack the DRM, and you are posting this on Subsim?

No, he asked if it was possible. At least, that's how I choose to view his question.

I don't think the modders would be able to do it. First, it's probably in the executable, and would need to actually be patched out. Mods change the data, not the executable.

Second, if someone did it in a mod instead of a patch, they'd be a cracker, not a modder anyway.

You can try a word dance all you like, he is talking about cracking the DRM. Whether he is saying we should or asking if it is possible is irrelevant.

No, genius, he's saying that if the developers ever stop hosting the DRM online service, they would (prior to shutting off the DRM service) release a patch for the game such that the DRM service was no longer required for play.

It's pretty standard practice.

Thanks for the insult

Let me highlight the part you seem to have missed, this is in reference to the hypothetical patch to remove DRM.

Which means he wants the community to create a "mod" that enables core gameplay without a connection to the internet. That is a crack.

gentlemen,here is what i intended with that question;
nothing...
ubisoft made the sugestion they could make that patch so i asumed it was just a few lines of coding and therefore i asked that question, not to sugest that it should be made.
i don't have the slightest idea about coding my stronger point is the graphical work since i work as a freelance designer not as a scripter.

sorry for misunderstanding the question.

as far as i am concerned the internet connection is no problem and if they want this way to let us play the game, that's fine to me.

I thought you were referring to the bolded statement, since it was bolded for emphasis. I tried to add in a cute word but I picked the wrong one.

The community wouldn't create such a (more than likely illegal) change to the code in the same way the original developers would. The devs have access to the source code and would be able to undo the DRM in a normal programmer's way while anything the community would do would have to be some reverse engineered hack that would definitely use a different method.

The first week the game is out should be interesting to say the least . The first thing to check would be to see how the drm affects modding if at all . The next thing we need is too see if the mod enabler works with sh5 . The next thing we will need is a silent 3ditor type program if its not included (i doubt it would be) .

Im sure JSGME will work with SHV, hell I even it use it to install 3d poser content to my Carrera Runtime folder. (3d application)
Its a pretty versatile tool.
