The Devs may admire the work, but for legal reasons, they would never include it in the game. Ubisoft legal would never allow external work to be included.

SH3 and SH4 would have been on the shelf or in circular storage after three months if it hadn't been for them. They should develop the game to allow maximum modeling of everything to get the most out of it, monetarily for them and enjoyment-wise for us. Otherwise get a PS3 or Xbox and be done with it.

many game development companies have a policy "We do not accept unsolicited game ideas or unsolicited game content."
as such you would never see this work in an official release.

In this specific case, I agree there's only minimal chance to see Tomi's work in SH5, but the devs proved they can appreciate the work of a modder. Proof stands the inclusion of the much regreted Leovampire's work in the Uboat Missions add-on for SH4. He is even mentioned in the credits, IIRC.

They have already expressed admiration for Tomi's work:

This all came up with Dave's excellent 'Living Breathing Ocean' mod. Dave really wanted them to use his files, and the Devs wanted to use them, but Ubisoft Legal said no.
In the end, they created files that were 'very similar' to Dave's, but legally not his files, and included those files in the game. They then added Dave to the credits as a thank you gesture for his talent and hard work in improving the game. |

Its a shame, What i dont get, is that most 'mods' are Ubis own file (reworked or modified) legally it all still belong to UBI anyway! Where new content is created and submitted for official use, i dont see why this need be such a huge issue either, can they not send the creator some kind of disclaimer to sign? maybe the problem is that the creator has no way to legally 'prove' that it is his or her work to distribute. But what do i know about legal matters? squat diddly. i guess they (the leagal boffins) know what they are doing. ![]() |
