id say a lot of peoples problems come from ms updates there are a lot of incompetent so called software developers making a mess of the os and the so called fixes that they create.
try uninstalling the latest update and see if that works.

Most updates are security fixes and it's not a good idea to uninstall them willy-nilly (hehe don't get to use that word often ). It's more likely to be a problem with SH3 patching than anything else.

Do you have problems with any other applications/games? Do you have the latest SH3 patches installed (which need installing as Administrator)?

who is will-nilly?
The origin centres around the first of those meanings. There are many spellings in early citations - 'wille we, nelle we', 'will he, nill he', 'will I, nill I', etc. The expression also appears later as 'nilly willy' or 'willing, nilling', or even, in a later humourous version 'william nilliam'. The early meaning of the word nill is key to this. In early English nill was the opposite of will. That is, will meant to want to do something, nill meant to want to avoid it. So, combining the willy - 'I am willing' and nilly - 'I am unwilling' expresses the idea that it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.
The Latin phrase 'nolens, volens' means the same thing, although it isn't clear whether the English version is a simple translation of that.
The second, 'in an undecided, haphazard manner', meaning of willy-nilly arrives from the first. The changeable 'this way, then that way' imagery of willy-nilly behaviour fits with our current 'haphazard' meaning of the term.

Hey Guys, I got the game working, I read on Ubisoft.com forums that the Intro and Logo movies are the problems with a lot of people's start up issues. I deleted them. It took me straight to the loading screen. It worked!

Well if you have any more problems, let us know. And Spike is right, just deleting them right there is bad for your PC. You need to uninstall the game, then delete what is left over unless it's a saved game (doesn't matter what game) you want. Then, type in regedit (what I do for Vista) in the startbar, or click run and type it in and then delete whichever folders are left and reinstall.

It's best, you have the Silent Hunter III 1.4b [Retail] if cd and [Digital] if you downloaded. http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Info.asp...wnload&dcId=63

I'm glad you got it working again, lets hope it stays that way!

How is deleting a few movies from your game to make it work bad for your computer? (Just wondering)

I think he was referring to the guy that said he doesn't use uninstallers, and just deletes files manually. It's bad because it leaves unused registry entries and possibly some additional files. Easy to clean up with your basic maintenance program such as Ccleaner, but ultimately, it's better to use the uninstaller first before removing any leftover files rather than the other way around.
