I picked Run Silent, Run Deep, for reasons other than it's greatness. Sure, by todays standards, it's a bit old and tired. Wasn't really very accurate either. But, see, I've watched that movie a hundred times. (Probably more). Grew up with it, I did. I'm sure a lot of others feel the same way.

Hard not to associate all those years it gave me pleasure when I vote, you know?

So there's my vote.

edit: Yay! Finally got rid of that $&*#*$ Medic avatar.

Run silent, Run deep is a classic, and it was the first ww2 sub movie ive ever saw.

But you just cant bring out the realism like u can with dasboot, and i think thats my fav warmovie. Band of brothers runs a close second

IMO, U-571 is a farce of a movie, way too many things wrong with it. Sure its entertaining, but for me personally as a historian, its one jagged pill to swallow.

When it comes to uboats: It's definitely "Das Boot". I also quite liked "The Enemy Below.", but they built a very poor uboat interior in that movie.

When it comes to modern subs there's no way around "Hunt for Red October" for me

In addition I personally love "Operation Pettycoat" It's simply hilarious although it has little to no realistic aspect.

I haven't seen the third alternative, so I voted Das Boot.

By the way, I recently ordered a copy of the original, full length version of Das Boot. That was awesome! I couldn't understand it lasted for almost 5 hours. It seemed like 2 hours tops!

So anyone not seen that version yet - go get it!

Here's my list, can't pick a favorite since I like something different about each one (Das Boot is my favorite U-boat movie though)

Das Boot
Operation Pacific (typical John Wayne movie, but I love it)
Operation Petticoat (hilarious, based on several actual events)
Run Silent, Run Deep

Destination Tokyo is pretty good, too.
