Could be a pretty good sequal to HMS Thanatus

Anyway, if I'm reading it correctly, Scott is at least involved with the movie, even if he isn't directing.
Quote:
Reports from earlier this week suggest that Fox have brought on Scott and his brother Tony to produce a new film, but that commercial director Carl Rinsch would direct. Tony Scott has since confirmed that Rinsch, who has worked with the Scott Free production company run by Ridley and Tony, is indeed on board and that the movie is a prequel.

I and my cuisines love the first two aliens movies. After that it went way off course.

Still thinking about the alien ship on LV4 planet in my eyes looked like a transport ship or a prison ship? The on board aliens crew flying the dam thing may have had the duty to move the egg infested ship from A to B. Or simply keep it from going near any civilized galactic societies at that time.

I guess one of the crew was stupid and became a host. Then all hell broke loose and they crashed. They put out a warning to keep other species from boarding that ship.

But humans are as curious as cats and stupid too. Unfortunately we don't have nine lives.

All good theories but that is my views on that alien transport ship.

Q&A with Ridley Scott:
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/163...22/story.jhtml

So, it is indeed about them Space Jockeys.

Ow and Giger's prolly coming to work on the film so yay for that!

Then he hints that there might not be aliens at all, not atleast in the form we remember them.

Well cool. A prequel isn't such a bad idea for the series. Just don't let ILM get anywhere near it. I am bored to death with flashy CGI in movies.

Scott wants to do 2 prequels.

Quote:
You’re developing the Alien prequel, are you developing it as a series of films or a longer storyline?

Scott: It’ll be two. It’ll be prequel one and two. Then Alien 1.

Are you going to shoot the prequels together or shoot them separately?

Scott: At the moment I’m just trying to get the first one out.
Then the bad news are, of course, that CGI will be heavily used according to other interviews with Scott. In one he says he wants to jump the bar set up by Avatar.

I think he meant the CGI side of it you stoopid you. He's said that it'll be a very dark movie.

Quote:
"The film will be really tough, really nasty. It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would actually go in and clean up a planet? It will take place in the years before that, when they first come across this thing on a planet called Zeta Reticuli."

Actually, this isn't such a bad idea after all. As it is suggested that when the facehugger lays it's eggs inside it's victim it takes part of the hosts DNA and starts to work on it. This can be seen in the original Alien, the head cupola is see-through and underneath you can see a human skull.

So basically we are looking at a story line which consists of 2 prequels.

My guess is that it will conclude with some alien infested ship crashing down on LV426 and activating a distress signal (actually a warning) to which the Nostromo responds resulting in the events of the first movie.

This has been discussed quite extensively in the forums of avpgalaxy (linky somewhere in this thread) and two possibilities have been popping up regularely; Either the ship was carrying the eggs and crashlanded or the Space Jockeys found the eggs from LV-426, loaded them into the ship but something went wrong.

oddly enough, I re-watched part of Apocalypse Now last night, one of my favorite movies, a brilliant, though slightly flawed masterpiece which is probably the best metaphor for not only the American experience in Vietnam, but Iraq as well.
