Default trouble docking

little bit of a preoblem. My orders are to deport from fremantle, photo recon serobaja harbor in my S-30 and scoot like hell to deliver these precious photos to the chaps stationed in brisbane, only problem is, everytie i try to dock when it asks me, after accepting it, and hitting next, my game goes straight to SH4 encountered a problem...basically how do i fix this, i already tried a previous save, and even redid the mission starting from the end of my previous patrol (in base)...would reloading a save from towards the end of the previous patrol fix this?

Brisbane still in allied hands?

By the way you dont have to return to base to complete that mission. Just radio in and you will recieve new orders.

Theres a button on the lower right of the screen looks kind of like a clip board. There are three tabs on the clipboard. One of em is ummm a phone home option.

As to the photo mission I believe that if you did it correctly you should have gotten a mission complete message (in the incomming part of the clipboard).

How to complete a mission

On your map, check the "anchor" icon of the port. It has happened to me that I was reassigned to a new port and I missed the message. The game won't allow you to dock at the "wrong" port.

Your home port has a "tilted" anchor.

Don't know if this is your problem but once I was sailing all over the place trying to find my home before someone told me about the anchor icons

Yes you can dock at any allied port to re-fit and re-fuel but you have to dock at your 'home' port to complete the tour.

The game often changes home ports and either forgets to tell you or it gets covered up in other message spam.

As said above look for the tilted anchor.

The crash is another matter Im not sure why it would crash when entering a port unless its trying to load and object/sound file which is corrupted.

Short of a re-install I dont know how to help you.

About the re-install even that has a few twists and turns here is a good thread on the topic

No, only Cavite and Surabaya. So once you get either Fremantle or Brisbane that will be your permanent base unless you request a transfer when it becomes available to you.

Interesting.. I haven't played a US Campaign that far, but I had assumed when the Allies started re-taking the islands some ports would be re-opened.

By 1944 there several places to stop for fuel and ammo.Even though they did get Cavite back in late 44 they never made it into home port for subs they still ported in Fremantle why rebulid a port when by this point they new the war would be over in another year or so? And they made Saipan an FOB but that was a Japanese base after WWI not ours until 1944 still is. By 1944 there will be several tenders/FOBs out there. Nothing in Australia will ever get taken by the Japs in SH4 it does not consider alternate history the war will end in Aug.1945 every time same goes for all the historic battles they will occur the same way in fact nothing on the strategic scale matters in SH4 the ships spwan randomly save your game when you spot a convoy even a ship see what they are then reload and look again odds are they will be diffrent) so you might encounter and sink the Yamato diffrent 16 times it wont matter at all.You could sink 0 tons or 100,000 it will have no real effect on the war You have to make belive that part.

The OP is referring to a CTD which occurs whenver one clicks the Dock button and then "Next". I have very recently encountered this problem after nearly three years of CTD-free SH4 play.

I'm trying to track down whether it's Win 7 64-bit related, or mod-soup related. I'll keep you posted, U-84, as I plan to devote some time to figuring this one out.

Oops, just realized this thread is over six months old. Hope things turned out allright for you.
