Unless he wants to undo it at a later time. Then he needs the JSGME application to disable the mod.

I don't mean the compass in the dials.

For navigating just don't zoom in so far that the plotter shows up and for making your attack plots you chose a random location on the map far away from your actual position. That way you can zoom in on the map without seeing the plotter also.
