I'm surprised that noone has reacted to this yet...
![]() A Schutzstaffel officer? In LEGO?! Oh I remember when LEGO was just harmless means of torture for parents feet... and stuff like this: You may argue as much as you want about that "Mr. White" should be considered a terrorist, you can't deny that the SS has not much to be proud of, at least not in the publics general view of what's right and wrong. You lot over in the States can let your kids play with these kinds of toys if you want, but I sure hope you'll keep it to yourself. ![]()

I don't understand the issue here. I used to play with green and brown and grey toy soldiers. Axis verses allies, cold war piece, Cow boys and indians, many more historical events. How many times I used to blow them up with fire crackers or melt them....
![]() They should get over themselves. For crying out loud its a toy. LET BOYS PLAY! ![]() |

I wonder how many imaginary stormtroopers, Nazis, aggressive alien species and ninjas I slew in my youth....

Our Army man wars were epic. This was in the late 1960's early 70's and most of us had collections running into the hundreds. We'd spend hours setting them up in little bunkers and trenches in the dirt, then we'd take turns tossing rocks and wiping them out in a massive rock artillery barrage (we'd add the appropriate sound effects verbally). Last one with troops still standing wins.
As we grew older we'd build ship models adding stones as ballast and firecrackers into the hulls. We'd anchor them in a small pond and flick lit matches at them until they'd catch fire and eventually explode into pieces once the flames reached the "magazine". Hollywood special effects had nothing on our youthful imaginations... ![]()

Very true August... Models like my Bismark had a reenactment of battle in the tub with life fireworks and hull battle damage....
![]() Two weeks to build and 2 hours to prepare then 2 sec to destroy! ![]() Or my old RC fighter planes true crash dives....:rotfl: My piloting skills where questionable... ![]() As we get older so do the toy choices and level of extreme fun... ![]() Last edited by Wolfehunter; 12-14-08 at 01:08 AM. |

The stuff on this brickarms site would be good for a game of brikwars.

I believe I went through several packs of army men each week, blowing most of my money on them and the firecrackers I used to obliterate the poor guys. I find that the media tends to take a single example of a complete psycho and then tie whatever his hobbies were to serial killing. Its a bit like the outcry about violent video games, which about half the world plays without cannibalizing their grandparents. If this was true, I would have killed 60 people by the time I was 7
Still, its a different matter with the, uh.. Brickarms guys, the army men I played with were rather generic with the only difference being their color (green and darker green). These guys are pretty specific, and little kids really don't know who to make the hero. I would not want to see my kid glorifying the Schutzstaffel, but thats really just your perspective. The kid doesn't know that he is making the (just about) worst human beings in history "save the day", so it isn't preaching Jihad or genocide. Then again, the whole thing is pretty irrelevant because, well...whose kid would be buying mail-order Brickarms rather than just getting Lego from Toys 'R Us. edit: On second thought, would anyone buy this?
