Default Continuing Administrator Issues SH4 GOLD

Hi everybody, me again.

Having had various Administrator Issues with "Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific GOLD EDITION"

In recent Weeks I now have the Following Issues which I need help with Please.

Hope the Rest of this Post makes sense to somebody? because it certainly doesn't make sense to me.

Having completely UnInstalled Silent hunter and re-Installed a fresh Copy To C:\ Silent Hunter 4, I know find It now works perfectly when

Loaded without making any changes to the Administrator or Compatibility settings.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM ! ! !

I can run a SH4 Simulation, I can save a Simulation, I can even go and play another Game and come back to SH4 and run

A new scenario or a saved game again!

BUT! This is only OK whilst my Computer stays on. If I switch My Computer off and go to bed and restart the Computer the next morning

and try to start SH4 I am confronted with a Red Box with the following Message:-

"This app has bee blocked for your protection. An administrator has blocked you from running this app"

Really hope somebody has some Ideas about this Please? because I am really starting to get Hump with this.

Many thanks

Paul.

That is indeed strange, Paul... What is your computer model number, and the OS you are using? Is it a stock install, or did a shop or friend set it up for you? I would recommend to not install the game directly in the root folder of C:, but rather make yourself a new folder, such as "C:\Games" or whatever you want to use, and install the game to that. Being directly off the root of the hard drive has the potential to cause issues, though I doubt that is what the case is here.

Also, are you using a disk version of the game, or a download from Ubisoft or Amazon, or similar?

Hi propbeanie,

Well, thanks for reply, apologies for my late reply.

Unfortunately your Games folder Installation Idea didn't work.

As said previously, I have never had a Problem with Silent Hunter 4 Installed as C:\Silent Hunter 4 on this Windows 10 Operating System.

Thinking of knocking Silent Hunter 4 GOLD on the Head have wasted To many Hours over this.

Many thanks

Paul.

It is a shame you cannot get the game to run on your computer. If you have anyone in your area familiar with computers, they might be able to come give you a hand at wrestling the beast to the ground, and forcing compliance upon it... - wishing you well with which ever way you go!

I'd pay $20 on Steam and give that a try. Just don't save the game to the default location. I know it sucks to pay again for a game you already have.

What 1Patriotofmany mentions reminds me pcohen, that if you do not have the Steam version of the game, and that with the disk version, you do have to allow the SH4 installation to "install" the DirectX v9.0c library files, along with the codec stuff. It does not over-write any current versions of DirectX, but instead "supplements" it with the older library file needed by SH4. The Steam and Ubi download versions should do that DirectX stuff for you while installing the game.

I can’t remember the exact file but search YouTube for the problem that you have and there is a solution involving using ResEdit and changing the setting for Eula or off
