This year we needed a new grill. Most grills that passed over our deck became rusty hulks after one to two seasons. Off to the store to get yet another soon to be rusty hulk this year we tried something different. As of late there is a new kid on the block. He goes by the name, "Big Green Egg." He also has a big price tag. I will not pay $800.00 for one of these grills.
![]() I will pay $300.00 for the Akorn: Since purchasing this grill I have found a new love in grilling. I do not use gas anymore. I now use hardwood charcoal. It is a pleasure to cook with. The Akorn is also a pleasure to use. Keeping a consistent temp for hours is easily done. Something you want when cooking ribs. After the experience with this new grill I will not go back to the conventional open top gas grills. Grill on.

I've had this grill for three seasons now, a Char-Griller 3 propane burner. I made sure to season the grill before use, got a cover for it and not one problem with rust.
Grilled a some chicken breasts with fresh mango salsa today. ![]() |

All you need is fire and sticks for the hot dogs to keep your guests AKA moochers busy while you get baked in the basement.

Nice gas grill Jim. I'm leery of the gas grills. I find the burners rust quickly. However, there are plenty of replacement parts. I cooked with gas grills for quite some time. Went back to charcoal. I like the flavor and it reminds me of being a kid smelling the grills in the neighborhood that burned charcoal.
