Default Das Boot movies?

So I just bought the 2-disc blu-ray "Director's Cut" of Das Boot.

I thought this would be the extended version like where Thompsen yells "Alarm" when the phone rings at the bar. It's not.

There seems to be an "uncut miniseries" version also.

Which is the "maximum version" of Das Boot?

Mhh...i bought it too at May, 1 disk blue ray... 218min long... whats missing in this version? Only bonus material or also scenes from the movie?

There is another "Steel Book" Version which has 3 discs blue ray and is 357min (!) long?

Dont you think they just spam this discs with so called "bonus material"?

I think what screwed me is I went here:

http://www.amazon.com/Das-Boot-Origi.../dp/B0001XAOLQ

Then clicked on Blu-Ray, which takes you to the Directors Cut version, not the miniseries version.

Is the miniseries version available on blu-ray?

I have all the different versions. The 'Original, Uncut Version' is, as Jim quoted, 4 hours 53 minutes long, an hour and a half longer than the 'Director's Cut', and it's all movie. The 'Uncut' version is in my opinion the best, even though the 'Director's Cut' has slightly better sound and picture quality. It includes many scenes of the crew interacting with each other, including a humorous "false alarm" dive, which may or may not have involved an actual airplane. There is a lot more character development, especially where 1WO is concerned. In this version he is not the rabid nazi he seems to be in the shorter versions, but rather a troubled and confused young man who joined the navy and the party because it seems to be what everyone is doing, and he just wanted to fit in.

Altogether well worth the money.

Never heard of it. Do you have a link?

[edit] Never mind, I found it on Amazon.de. It appears to be the recent Blu-Ray release which includes the Director's Cut (208 minutes) and the original Theatrical Release (149 minutes), which does indeed total 357 minutes running time for both versions.

[edit 2] The 'Original, Uncut Version' also includes a running narrative by Leutnant Werner, not seen on any of the other versions.

You have to put your DVD player into Schleichfahrt! That fixes it.

Ive watched the theatrical release and the miniseries versions and I was disappointed with the miniseries mainly because it was dubbed differently to gain a 12 certificate in that all the bad language was cut out and some of the lines changed. The person doing the dubbing for some characters was different too. Have I got the definitive version or not it runs for 4 hours and 42 mins

Took me a long time to come to terms with whether the ending could have been improved upon but in war anything can and did happen.

Never watched the dubbed versions. Problem solved.

Yes, the 292-minute version is the ultimate, at least as far as material inclusion is concerned. The Director's Cut is shorter, but has better sound, better subtitles and better dubbing.

So the extended, extended version is closer to the book then.
I bought a copy a few weeks ago, and at 563 pages is well worth it. I've already read it twice and will be going through it again.
Highly recommended!

A bit surprised about that, especially as ebay has its own site
