Default Classic Games

Don't you just love it when you find an old game, pop it's disk/cartridge into a console/PC, and play it again? Here are my favourite classic games:
  • Star Wars Republic Commando - Quite possibly one of the best FPS games out there, with one of my favourite campaigns ever.
  • Star Wars Battlefront 2 - This game has everything! Space combat, jet packs, the ability to play as a Jedi, even an ending that suggests that you've won the war for the Empire!
  • Empire Earth - The very first RTS I played, with four campaigns in the stock game, taking you from the colonization of Greece to the fall of Novoya Russia! That last one's in the future, by the way. And it also let's you successfully carry out Operation Sealion!

Those aren't classic games.

These are classic games.

Heh. The screenshot comes up as "No hotlink". But I knew exactly which game that was. I played it on the PCjr.

The rest of them, I don't recognize.

I do remember multiple versions of this:

They are for me, what with me being so young.

I've played PACMAN on the Xbox 360 and PC. It's pretty damn fun!

Classic games in my book would be:

Panzer General:

Warcraft: Orcs & Humans

Close Combat

Lords of the Realm II:

Microprose Grand Prix:

F-29 Retaliator

Transport Tycoon (of which the open source OTTD I still play)

and I can go on for a bit...

Hell. I still have most of my old stuff somewhere. No 3.5 inch drive, mind you, but I can always get one of those.

My vote goes for the X-Wing series (Tie Fighter was a personal favorite but God help you if you accidentally winged a shot at your home Star Destroyer while pursuing an enemy craft - suckers would shoot right back at you).

I still have Starfleet Command on my machine in one form or fashion. Should post screen shots sometime...

The two I highlighted aren't classics...but they're damn good. My childhood revolved (I'm in high school so I grew up in the late 90s-early 2000s) around flight sims and Star Wars. Haha. All the Battlefront games were the best. I loved them. I wore out the disc for BF2....I have to go get that cleaned...You make me want to play it again. I had them on xbox. Now Republic Commando I just played last year for the first time. I did really like the campaign and gameplay but isn't the best FPS out there. The best FPS out there is Half Life 2. Wow..I really liked Republic Commando though. It's a shame that the sequel was killed. They were going to do Imperial Commando but it died...sadly.

I don't know of that third game...

Some of my favorite childhood games are...(this is just a brief list)
  • Star Wars Battlefront 1&2
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Combat Flight Simulator 3
  • Mechwarrior 4
  • Mechassault 1&2
  • Rainbow Six Rouge Spear: Black Thorn & Covert Ops Essentials
  • Delta Force: Black Hawk Down
  • Flanker 2.5

Oh! And the early Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon games...

Ghost Recon 1 and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory FTW!
