I'm on the first OH missions and I'm at 3 of 4 ships sunk. One was a passenger ship :'( didn't want to but traffic is light in the baltic.
Anyways, I noticed another missions show up that wants me to sink a capital ship in one of north Britains harbors. The timeline for this mission is very short. It is currently around sept. 10th in the game I'm playing. They want me to sink the capital ship by oct. 15. 1. Can I go do this mission without ending my current one? I.E. Can I just quickly float my boat over and back real quick. 2. How much in game time passes when you dock? 3. Can I refit at kiel without docking? I guess my main question is, how can I make sure I complete both missions on schedule. |

1. I'd say stick with the Baltic mission and finish it. I don't believe you can get to Scapa Flow and back in time. I went into Danzig harbor and nailed a few escorts before we took it over. After that I didn't see any more Brit shipping so I went up by Copenhagen and sank a few neutral ships. At least that completed that mission. Then transfered was to Wilhelmshaven. Then pick the 'Break the Fortress' mission before you do the Coastal Waters mission. If you don't it will disappear if you go with the Coastal Waters.. at least it did for me, so I went back to the 'in base save' after the Baltic mission.
2. 14 days, unless you change time in base to something less. TDW has a thread on how to do that. 3. You can refit at any German base without docking, just get close so the anchor docking icon flashes. Also know you can't select your torpedo loadout unless you are dock at your home base. Good luck and sink em all. ![]()

ahh I thought it was 30 days in port if you docked. So I have plenty of time to get that last ship.
I also planned on heading over to danzig to get me some british escorts. In fact I was going to unload all of my torpedos there on british escorts (been using deck gun for polish ships). That passenger ship had a gun on it though which through me off. Took radio dmg, repaired to 100%. But my hull is still at 97% from the encounter. Neutrals will finish the mission but I'm playing more for realism. I would have been done on like day 1 if I had killed neutrals. Just go to that one denmark port that is a choke point and spend one night there. Done. |

Also if you refit, hull damage is not repaired. That can only be done at your home base.
Hint: If you go up against escorts, make sure you have a good supply of T1 steam torpedos.... and set them to their fastest speed. Let them get within 600meters and fire. It works very good at taking them out. ![]()

I plan on a night raid to that bay there. I'll take some screenshots of their burning carcasses if I don't get owned. Last time I was there the bay was crawling with them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peking_Plan Many players complained that they have an hard time looking for valid targets in Baltic Operations. My opinion is exactly the opposite: we should be given a very short timeframe for tracking down those destroyers. Historically, it doesn't make sense wasting an entire month in the Baltic just for passing the mission, when there are so many targets waiting around British coastal waters. As I side note I will remember that no Polish civilian ship was ever sunk in the Baltic by German forces. Three type VIIA U-boats (U-31, U-32 and U-35) were deployed in the Baltic shortly before the beginning of the conflict. They all departed from Memel (present day's Klaipėda, in Lithuania) between 29 and 30 Aug 39, with instructons to intercept the aforementioned destroyers bound to England. When it became clear that the Polish warship had already managed escaping, they 3 unsuccessful U-boats were recalled back to Kiel and Whilelmshaven, where they arrived between 1 and 2 Sep. The few Polish military vessels destroyed in the Baltic during the first 30 or so days of the conflict were sunk by the Luftwaffe ![]() |

The thought has occurred to me about whether sending a u boat into the Baltic is a good use of resources.

- a new player base from where to start the campaign is set in Lithuania - campaign start is anticipated to late August - Baltic Operations objectives are set to intercept a taskforce of 3 Polish destroyers between Danzig and the Øresund strait. Nothing else. - if we fail to do so before 1-2 september, amen: mission is failed, and we are called back in Kiel It would be an hard objective, but players would be prepared for it, and they wouldn't waste their time trying to accomplish it ![]() Trevally, what do you think? |

The DDs can be added - but to make players hunt the DDs sounds like going back to attack this attack that ![]() |

![]() Besides the Wikipedia article on Operation Peking I posted before, if you can read spanish you can consult the following links featuring short reports of the unsuccesfull patrol by the 3 U-boats involved: http://www.u-historia.com/uhistoria/.../u0031/u31.htm http://www.u-historia.com/uhistoria/.../u0032/u32.htm http://www.u-historia.com/uhistoria/.../u0035/u35.htm P.S: attacking the destroyers should be optional: you can set it just as an intercpt and report mission ![]() |
