Default What titles have you bought this year?

What games, simulations, and commercial addons have you spend money for this year, no matter whether the title was released new, or was around since longer?

Which titles have you seriously considered, but then decided against?

Which ones do you plan to get in the near future?

I got myself these titles:
- Aerofly FS 2013
- Virtual Pool 4
- Combat Mission: Shock Force
- The Hunter "Deutsche Wälder 2013" (DVD special edition)

I got myself these payware addons, mods, upgrades:
- Steal Beasts Pro 2.654 upgrade
- Skyrim: Dawnguard
- Skyrim: Hearthfire
- Combat Mission Shock Force: Marines
- CMSF: British Forces
- CMSF: NATO (Germans, Dutch, Canadians)
- few new international airport sceneries and Active Sky Evolution for FSX
- PMDG Jetstream JR-4100 (for FSX)

I considered and decided against:
- Carrier Command
- DCS P-51 Mustang

I consider to get:
- Aerosoft Airbus Extended (Box, for FSX)

That makes one new title per quarter, and roughly one addon or upgrade per month.

Not a whole lot.

Shogun II Total War
Skyrim: Dawnguard
Skyrim: Hearthfire
Street Fighter IV 2012 (when I was trying to convince my wife to play it on PC so I wouldn't have to sully my house with a gaming console. I failed)
Kerbal Space Program.

I am contemplating Far Cry 3, but have yet to pull the trigger (no pun intended).

Can you tell me alittle about this Carrier Command

Is it like Destroyer Command, but here you command an Carrier instead ?

Have just been reading about the game

http://www.carriercommand.com/

I thought that you were to command the Nimitz and do all the stuff that makes a carrier work.

None that I can remember. I've purchased a lot of music, but no games.

Markus - I beta tested CC from its first beta forward.

It is the spiritual descendant of the original Carrier Command.

You control a highly automated and mostly self reliant Carrier. The Carrier is home to up to 4 active amphibious tanks and 4 aircraft. You control the loadout of each of these - and can issue orders from a map (Go here - attack this - guard this unit, etc) or you can hop in and control any of the units themselves.

That is the "main game". However, the game does come with a "single player campaign" that is basicaly a story driven, very lengthy tutorial. It not only involves the above - but also some running around FPS style as a soldier to complete objectives that move the story forward. Most think the "campaign" to be a major weakness in the game as its somewhat limiting.

It is a rework of a legendary old Amiga/Atari ST-title from the mid-80s, and futuristic. No real simulation. The title suffers from its inferior state esoecially regarding the AI and pathfinding, and if you check their forum you see that many people have abandoned it already, short after release. The developer is Bohemia who unfortunately have a lousy record in fixing AI issues with the ArmA series. Haplos and me strongly disagree in our assessment of it, it seems we have very different definitions of "quality" and difgferent standards by which to assess it, I checked the demo, and found it terrible, and many forum entries at their forum were a slap in the face of the developer, too, since they even ignored one year of feedback from ebtatester who told them exactly what major things were broken, and they just didn't touch it. I am disappointed to say so, since I was a big fan of the original back then, and had looking at the new version with great excitement, and over years. What I saw is great potential - headlessly wasted. The guys at Bohemia just don't know what pathfinding and AI means, they never really knew that stuff.

The latest patch gloss over some superficial symptoms apparently, but doe snot cure the substance of the problem.

I recommend you check these two:

http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisp...ISSION-GENERAL

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=194059 (long thread, it seems, start with thew pages at the end).

I have strong doubts they ever fix this to the needed degree, it is a totally spoiled release, imo, which is a shame. But titles rarely recover from a bad start like this. Think twice before throwing money after it - outlook is good they they sooner or later abandon it, due to low customer interest - reviews have been messy, customer interest is low: they know they will not make profit with this anymore.

There is tastier jummy out there.
