Default Mod Request - Weather Control

OK, first let me say that I've been a long time lurker here, but I think I've only rarely, if ever, posted.

Basically the problem I'm having is that weather so severe that it prevents attacks seems to always coincide with the opportunity to attack. In fact, in all of the years I've had SH3, I don't think I have ever once had the opportunity to attack a convoy in good weather. I'm honestly about to pull my old PC out of storage and start up 'Aces of the Deep' just so I can attack some convoys. My last three patrols I've watched three convoys and a battleship group sail on by, safe under the cover of the 15m/s fog storm.

Having said that, is there any way to make a mod that would force SH3 to switch to (Or to always use) the dreamy perfect weather that I only get to see when leaving port? I know that bad weather is part of the game, but it seems like it's the only part I get to see.

I've actually got that one, and while it eliminates the Uber-Fogstorm, it doesn't eliminate storms. Is it possible to play around with that file to change it's effect?

You could download file NYGM3_6A.7z by clicking on the logo below.

Unzip the file, and look for 'envsim.act'. Use this stand-alone file to replace your existing envsim.act file in folder ubisoft\silenthunteriii\. This replacement file should work with all setups of SH3 (unless patched with one of H.sie's hard-code patches).

NYGM's envsim.act file has been re-engineered in code to reduce the strong winds at regular intervals, which in turn reduces the frequency of 'fog'.

Do not attempt to install the other files from the unzipped NYGM3_6A.7z, they will cause a Crash-to-desktop (CTD). If you want to install NYGM in its entirety, you will need to download *all* the key files from the logo, and install them in the correct sequence onto a clean (unmodded) installation of stock SH3.

You can also zero all wind change variables in scene.dat with Silent Editor. That will give you permanently the wind speed and waves you select. Clouds will change and rain will also happen, but never storms.
