Default SDL (game's master sound mixer) editor/viewer/comparer

I'm not one for using tools (except those that I make but even then hex editor is still king) but the SH5 guys needed something for quick editing/comparing/adding of the SDL file so I wrote an app for them. Since the file structure of the SDL file is unchanged from SH3 I can make it available to you all in SH4 also. In order to avoid having to update 3 different threads about this (SH5/4/3) I'm just going to give the link to the SH5 thread here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...96&postcount=1

What exactly can this do that S3D cannot currently do with SDL files?

No clue. I don't use S3D. Those that use S3D can probably chime in and tell you

So why reinvent the wheel if S3D already does what your program does? S3D, for its part, can do a lot with SDL files.

As I said I don't use S3D so how would I know? I won't ever use it either as it's based on/uses company code and thus could never be released as open source if he ever wanted to.

Obviously S3D let's you view SDL files from the context of your response. Does it let you compare them? If so, does it highlight the differences and allow you to merge those differences?

This always applies: never forget the capitalist idea of if you think you can do it better then do it
