China fakes air force training video with clips from Top Gun

Really, China? Did you not think that one of the millions of people who have seen Top Gun wouldn't notice that the footage looks too good to be from anything except, say, a movie? Or that the footage was used with hardly any visual alterations? For shame.

Almost as bad, the USAF's IMAX movie I saw at the Air Force Museum in Dayton a couple years ago. It was so cheesy I almost asked for my money back. You'd think with all the cool things the air force can do for real, they wouldn't have to resort to cheap CGI effects.

AS for China, I'd think that they'd just assume since most of their population hasn't seen Top Gun. They also probably didn't think nobody would notice the difference between a Chinese fighter and a F5 (those are right?

IF the footage is good, why not. I heard that the street shooting scene in HEAT is used by the marines as a textbook retreat under enemy fire

But these communists have a habit of taking movies and showing them to their people that this is actually real. I wonder if they seen star wars

Good movie, good scene. But I wonder if it really is a good idea to take it for real life education. Thats like taking the scene of the bride versus the crazy 88 for sword fighting excercises.

Shenyang J-5 also called the Shenyang F-5 for export....

An easy mistake to make for those unfamiliar with aircraft. Jane's Combat Simulations did just that a long time ago...

On the other hand that's an old tradition. In The Hunters they used F-84-Fs as MiG-15s.
