Well if she (or her corporation) is paying for the catering, it is her right to request what she wants.

What exactly is the problem? It is not like she is demanding that YOU do this stuff for YOUR event.

Let her handle her event the way she wants.

And what's so "clueless dingbat" about wanting paper cups instead of styrofoam? And I'd say wanting to support local businesses and farms is a good thing way to give back to the local economy. What's political about that?

None of this really seems 'off the page' to me, sorry. Businesses make similar decisions, for cost purposes, public image, and other reasons every day, and a musical tour is a business endeavor.
