Produce should be “organic and purchased from local suppliers as much as possible.” And for the five backstage “watering stations,” water “must be sourced from a local spring water vendor.”

According to Crow’s rider, her tour party travels between gigs in two 45-foot buses, while her equipment is packed into two tractor-trailers.

Why do these pop stars have to go political. I liked her music too. Now I cant help but think about what a clueless dingbat she is.

How is any of that political?

Platapus 08-14-10 12:26 PM

Well if she (or her corporation) is paying for the catering, it is her right to request what she wants.

What exactly is the problem? It is not like she is demanding that YOU do this stuff for YOUR event.

Let her handle her event the way she wants. :yep:

And what's so "clueless dingbat" about wanting paper cups instead of styrofoam? And I'd say wanting to support local businesses and farms is a good thing way to give back to the local economy. What's political about that?

Sailor Steve 08-14-10 12:35 PM

The last time this subject came up she was advocating using one sheet instead of three.

Sure she can have her paper cups in her two busses and two semi rigs.

Is she using bio diesel for those as well? Seems kinda pointless if she's not.

One sheet eh? :hmmm:

She'll also need a large quantity of soap and hand cream :DL

It's her show, she can do whatever she wants with it provided she pays for it or reaches a mutual agreement with the owner of the venue.

Will she be emulated by throngs of adoring fans who want to follow her example? Maybe. Will even a mentionable portion of the population stop using whatever disposable goods are cheapest and most convenient for them just because some millionairess whose net worth could be redirected to saving millions of trees or baby seals or whatever wants them to? Yeah....probably not.

If anyone is clueless, it's the people who emulate her for no other reason than that she's Sheryl Crow. Here's hoping the recycled-paper business makes a killing off of those dingbats.

A) It screws with the market. Not in a way I'd protest or anything, the market exists to give the people what they want, I'm just saying.....
B) Where there is money, there is politics. Maybe not major party-level politics, but there are politics.

More power to her. Those requests are more responsible and reasonable than those of most stars.....

She wants to lead by example - so be it. I see no problem. Is she a dingbat? I don't know her well enough to say. She seems to care about the environment. That doesn't make her a dingbat. How far she takes it might, the whole 1 sheet thing would, but I don' t recall she ever said that. If someone has a link.....

You want stupid requests by a "rock star" - read:

Q: How many libertarians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

A: The free market.

I used to date this lady who worked in the protocol office on our base. She used to tell me some weird stories about General Officers and their "quirks" and "demands". :nope:

I guess there are spoiled "super stars" in every culture.
