Hi.
Im not even sure that the above name is the correct name... I want an idiots guide to using that above mod installer. Ive been playing SH4 for long enough to want to try my hand at loading up a new boat. I wanted the skipjack. Ive found it and the JSEGME or whatever its called but it all looks rather difficult to use. I would be very gratefull to anyone with a mongs guide... Please forgive this entry if there are already these guides and I havent looked, it is 0048hrs....urgh.... ![]() |

This should be enough to get you started. The rest of the help file can be found in whatever directory you installed JSGME in.

Hmmm..having problems at the first step. When I try and download it straight to the SH4 root folder it says I havent got admin rights to do that!!!??? LOL (Its a brand new PC and having some owner or owned issues lol) I tried saving to desktop then moving it into the main SH4 folder which worked ok but then when I tried to run it said ir wasnt a valid win32 file?

That's correct. RAR files use better compression than a zip if I remember right. You'll need a program like winrar or 7zip to unrar it.

It sounds like you've got past this stage already, but just in case there are still problems:
If your computer's stopping you from moving things around/running things on your C drive, then you should disable user account control (that's what it's called in Vista anyway) as this prevents you from editing files on the hard disk. Type it into the search function on the start menu and you should find information about disabling it. Quote:
http://www.7-zip.org/ once you've installed 7zip, right click on the RAR file and select 7zip>extract files and then extract them to your mod file - the mod should then appear on your mod list in JSGME. Hope that helps. edit: Ah, poster above has got there already! |

Try logging in as Administrator. It may be that you established a separate user account for yourself with limited admin rights. That is not at all a bad idea. It can prevent lots of exclamations that begin, "Oh S*** !!"
Good hunting. |

Guys
Can I please say that Ive paused a beautiful attack by my new Skipjack class sub to say a HUGE thanks. Its a peach and is now up and running. Thanks guys. For future all I was doing was not creating a MODS folder within the SH4 main files. Therefore SGME or whatever the hell its called wasnt picking it up. Love you guys PS Just launched a torp from 300 ft!!! And just about got back up from +650 feet !!! |

Great!
You'll start to find that JSGME in one of the most useful things on your computer once you've downloaded a selection of mods! |
