Ubi stop's pirate's

Well UBI went all out to stop pirating of there games and they did it WELL DONE UBI

the only problem was that they had so many bad reviews from subsim Amazon US & UK cnet and on and on, that not even the pirate's what it . well done UBI

ps on another note SH5 sales have dropped to a all time low of 1 dvd sold in a week and for every one out there that paid 29.00 + P&P now 12.00 FREE P&P

The only difference on pirated version is that you cant' advance in campaigns, all the rest works fine. So:

We actually were robbed by Ubi by paying for a full developed game and getting an alpha version. If somebody will go for a lawsuit against Ubi, I sign up asap.

And that has been dealt with by modding files.
So what did someone say: UBI stopped the pirates?

AC2 and SH5 were pirated roughly at the same time. SH5 didn't work at first, AC2 did (despite Ubi saying it didn't). SH5 copied the method used to crack AC2 and bang, both games cracked. Ubi didn't even slow them down.

What they have achieved is killing the 2nd hand market for these titles.

I'm not saying this is good or bad, its just an observation...

The irony is that 2nd hand game market for pc games has always been an afterthought. Consoles are where 2nd game market is flourishing and always has. And yet they get to be treated like Kings and we like scum.

Apparently you can even do that with a little file editing.

Pirates will not be stopped, no matter what kind of fancy software or account authentication system you use. They always find a way, regardless of the attempts made by the industry to stop them.

Games companies are looking at all of this the wrong way. Piracy is not decreasing sales, because anyone downloading software illegally would not have bought the game in the first place, save for perhaps a few. Piracy is not responsible for the decline in sales revenue, pumping out shallow game after shallow game will do this readily enough, without any help from illegal copies.

Ubi's DRM solution has done only one thing, and that is alienate the very people putting money in their bank accounts. Not exactly a bright business decision. Have they stopped the pirates? It seems unlikely.

First post for SH5....long time player..SH3, SH4 w/UBM and now SH5.
To put a damper on your "pirates cant continue with the missions" thing, my coughcousincough pirated the game after hearing me complain that this is nothing like the other releases, more arcade like and no thinking allowed. Well, last night he called and said he just started Happy times and the only complaints he has is that every time he finishes a mission, he has to save in port, edit the campaign file and reload. Says its a pain, but no DRM.
I own AC2, and has of yet, no crack for it that actually works.

EDIT: Game companies blame pirates on decreasing sales. They claim its only the PC side, so they just concentrate on the consoles. If you ever look at the torrent sites, XBox games are pirated just has much as PC games.....but no mention of that in any articles.
