What were they doing up there?

TC @ 1024, weather clear, mid-day:

I'm in the control room looking over the map when there's a horrific crashing noise and the boat is getting jarred around like a really good depth charging. Race to the bridge and see that we're in the middle of a convoy getting knocked around like a Tonka toy. We made it about 30 seconds as I tried to get us to dive. Rammed, shot to hell and sinking. I'd court martial the bridge crew if they had lived.

Happens to me too all the time after I switched map contacts off. Noticed that after 64x TC the navigator stops saying aloud the new waypoints you insert in map, maybe the rest of the crew stops reporting also, me thinks.

You were unlucky you hit anything
I sailed right through one and out the back only dropping TC when crew spotted the rear escort
As it happens I turned and sailed back thru

They are blind as a bat and no use at all

TC jumps to 8x = enemy ship sighted
TC jumps to 1x = enemy plane sighted

Problem solved!

I was flying home yesterday to finish a patrol and didn't really care what was happening, so was flying past Scotland at 2048x. Suddenly the TC stops and I see a red icon right over my boat. I climb up on the bridge and look behind me and there's a carrier task force like 1km behind me!!

Somehow I was able to crash dive and "squeal my tires" to take a snap shot at the carrier as it passed. I missed. Didn't get hunted though, thank the fog!

Just make those changes to the main.cfg file in your mydocs\sh5 folder. I set all the enemy sighted and critical damage/situation type settings to 1x in mine and I haven't had any such issues.
