Here there are 3d models for sale, not the program. Anyone familiar with this? Would like the program the models where made with. There are a few very nive WW2 warships.

Looks might be deceiving. The accuracy might well be off, overly simplistic, and parts are likely to have been modeled wrong. I would be super sceptical before even concidering buying anything.
I suppose any 3D application with a polygon smoothing tool would suffice. Personally, I find the lack of proper references a big problem when modeling. I modeled the Millennium Falcon basicly by comparing the model with screenshots from the movies ![]() ![]() Last edited by Decoman; 03-19-10 at 05:43 PM. |

![]() ![]() Maya is a bastard modeling program imo. Works nicely, but I would argue that it does not always offer user friendly modeling tools. For example, you can modify a polygon object by using the animation tools (deformations). You would have to know about this beforehand or learn it later on. Here is the uboat I modeled years ago: Linky |

I used to sell some of my stuff through them, theyre not bad, they used to take a big bite out of your royalties though, 60% if i remember right.
Take a look at www.turbosquid.com for a massive selection of models both free and not so free |

Nice work, love ur U Boat, I usually find cheap model kits can be good source for references material for aircraft, boats etc. 3D modeling packages Blender, 3D max, Rhino to name but 3 on the market Bulkhead, all have there strengths and weaknesses.

I going to look into it for sure. Love the u-boat with snorkel.
Can you do textures with it to or just the model? I have a one year education in using autocad though, but thats many years ago.

Rhino i think you can only model in, Max and Blender, you can add textures to your model, most textures are usually done in a paint programe or photoshop, or using photos. Here are some links have a look
http://www.mil-art.com/ nice 3d and 2 D stuff here ![]() http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...2BF2F8CC489A50 here are some basic Max tutorials. http://forums.cgsociety.org/ all things to do with 3D here, tips, forums etc. http://www.pandbartworks.co.uk this is my site, I use illustrator, Max and photoshop and plonk about here ![]() ![]() |
