Default GameArena Silent Hunter 5 Review

Hey guys,

After writing the article on DRM and Silent Hunter 5 that Neil posted on the nes page, I ended up reviewing the game for an Australian site, GameArena.

While the review is a general review, and doesn't go into details beyond what the average gamer might care about, I'm likely to (seeing as I have the game now despite my issues with the DRM) write a further article with more detail in it later on. Or I could just leave it to Neil to write what will doubtlessly be his usual excellent and in-depth review. :-)

The review is here.

I have also written a follow-up article to my original DRM one, explaining my thoughts on DRM, bugs, patches and the like as I feel they should affect game reviews. That's here.

And where is that "wet-weather gear"? My lookout spent two weeks in the non-stop rain without their rubbers.

Nice job! I think it would have been pretty cool if you had mentioned where those simple third-party patches could be found, though

In my not always so humble opinion I think you should of included somewhere in your review the fact that DRM is being used and maybe a link to your related article.

Links within reviews seem to be kind of a no-no on GA. I might check, though...

I enjoyed reading, and seems to be very fair. I do believe that the DRM (OSP) should have had a mention. I know that you didnt have any problems with it. But many have. especialy during the weekend when Ubi's servers where hit with a DoS (Ubi claim it was a DDoS).
I dont have the game yet. Released in NZ tomorrow. I will be getting a copy. But only because I've seen what the modders have done with SH3. If it wasnt for Subsim and the modders i prob wouldnt be buying it.
Lets hope patches fix all the major issues. And the modders can bring this up to par with GWX or similar mods.

Thanks for your review.

J.Williams.
