Like a red rag to a bull this idiotic DRM. Probably this time it's just desperate gamers trying to log in and complain.

They sure do get attacked a whole lot. Seems kinda like maybe there might be a reason for that. I know they are pretty stupid at UBI.... But can't be that stupid.. But then again they are the ones that came up with the IDea for Permanent online connection with a single player game.

Nahhh their not the only ones. FSX needs the same online connection or it doesn't run in anything but demo mode.

But it's the hackers and pirates that are to blame for this sort of thing, not software companies. If not for piracy, none of the security measures we see today would be nessicary. I still remember when games had none of this, but then came the theives, and then came disk in drive to play, then starforce and the like anti-priacy software. Then the theives got around that so now it's online verification.

I can run FSX offline just fine.

FSX just needs a ONE time activation.

Like windows does.

UBI's OSP need 24/7 365 connection.

I've been playing games for over 25 years and since the early 90's games have had some form of protection,
earliest examples i can remember where:-
Enter word 6, line 25 of page 7 from game manual.

Thinks have sure got worse now. The internet has made it so easy to obtain pirated software.
I dont like this DRM (OSP). but companies have a right to protect their software. Same as you have the right not to buy their software.

Nah, swap out your graphics card, and it will decide it is not activated.

And then it won't be able to find the server to activate.

And then you get to call and activate it over the phone.

Ahhh, well rodger that then. I just recently had this "activation error" problem come up and naturally I assumed this sort of online verification thing was what was going on, and with this activation error message on startup it wasnt able to do so.
I did finally fix the error though, and it was a registry thing I had to change, but heck I dont even remember what I did exactly.

But yes I too remember a time when there was no such thing as all this, but as I said it's the piracy that has brought it all about. Though I must admit this DRM thing is a bit much, and I can imagine it really ticks off anyone on dialup or some other type of weak online connection.
I myself am on comcast internet, and so is on full time and is THE fastest internet connection there is to my knowlege.
So my SH5 is working perfectly in this reguard, uhhh so far. But im sure that wont help if UBI's servers go bonkers for some reason. That wont be nice for sure.

Hmmm, BTW just what does DRM stand for anywho?

Their forums are down too maybe some of the unhappy customers threads will be lost in this attack?

This just keeps getting better.

I dont buy the angle of UBI just trying to deflect blame. I do believe they are under some kind of stress attack.

This will continue for some time till either the hackers get tired of their game or UBI does something a little more robust.

Ubisoft corporate lexicon, lesson one.

Ubispeak - "Hackers are attacking our servers!!"

English - "People are trying to log on to our servers to play their games!!"
