I have a felling that he autor of the book made some error's in the inscriptions...

Those are some of the best photos I've ever seen,
Exception: The XB minelayer that looked like a carrier.

now, identifying things on photoes is not my forté, but aint that an type VII? size?

Trouble is, the two photos apper to be not the same boat. By the bow and the second photo has a flag that I can not see in the first. And the look of the boats are more WW1 than a type IXB!

The second photo has saddle tanks.. not IXB.
