I worked my ass off for years so I could retire early. After that I got bored and started small business and keep a few people employed. I don't get super rich, but I do still make money and a nice profit. Now the government is going to take that from me, again.
Whatever happened to the small business being the backbone of America? I've been specifically targeted by new taxes, fees, insurance rate increases, etc. Was looking forward to some of the "special attention" that was going to be paid to small business. I didn't know that meant they were targeting my wallet. From the Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000..._HomeAndGarden Quote:
Stupid little things like having to pay higher unemployment premiums to make payments to people I didn't lay off. The funny thing is the day I got notified of the increase was the same day I was talking to my [unemployed] neighbor. I asked if he found a job yet. He said "I haven't looked, I still have plenty of unemployment left to collect". I had to restrain myself from walking over and kicking his ass. Then, realizing he's not even a man, not even man enough to get off his ass and work, he's not worth it. (Never spoke to him again, never will). This is the new American attitude. The land of entitlements. I'm leaving the US. Seriously, I've had enough, I'm done. I've thought about it before, now I'm going to do it. (I'm really not kidding or just mad, I'm leaving). I'm doing serious research into where in the world I'm going to move. I just know it isn't going to be here [in the US] any more. I'm sure there are countries out there who would want a hard working small business owner who pays all of his taxes and keeps people gainfully employed. |

I like Denmark, having travelled there for the Subsim Meet 2009. Shortly after coming back, there was a special on Denmark, Copenhagen specifically, on the Oprah show about them being the happiest people on the planet.
Plus, a lot of good lookin women there ![]() |

Second thread like this in a week... Golden Rivet just had one pretty much the same tone.
What they dont realize... as you have stated.. these high taxation rates will not result in greater revenues it will merly drive business away or out of buisness... wheres your revenue then?

Anyone thinking about immigrating - all I can say is: avoid the EU at all cost, all states of it.
If I were 20 again, and would plan a life again and would have the ressources to support the move, I would leave the EU not only when wishing to found a family, but would leave anyway. Not sure where to go, US and Canada do not seem to be the option I once considered them to be after schooltime. Japan is a harsh place, and it's economical model is collapsing even faster than that of the US. Leaves me with Brazil, maybe (if I had money, at no cost I would need to live there when being poor), or SE Asia. Anywhere - just away from the united dumbheadedness of Eurabia.

Now that's a good reason.
![]() Besides, the US is a country with not so many taxes. Here in Spain, I just suffered TAX myself. Due to a measure implemented by our "presi", everyone in the country got elegible for a 400 euros tax refund. But they made it so messy, that now it's coming after us. Essentially, what they made was lower the paycheck taxes (in my case, at 9% of total), supposedly to make the families spend more money, all in pro of consumism so the wheel keeps spinning. But now, in this damn economical breakdown, the government has decided that they have to cut expenses, so the measure is off, and my paycheck tax has raised to 12%, which has taken me -24 euros monthly (and everyone I know says they got less money as well). More taxes... apart from my income tax, I have discounts in my paycheck to pay Social Security expenses, which also get their cut. Also, VAT was already at 16% in its general index, which now rises to 18 or 19%, and even more in the "deluxe" articles index (first necessity stuff stays in the reduced index though). I also have to pay taxes on gasoline (don't know what percentage, but it's always been said that taxes are the reason why gasoline is so expensive), spending about 20 euros a week now that I have to endure half-hour of car travel since they changed my workplace. Also, our "presi" also says that the official retirement age must be delayed. It's currently at 65, but now we will retire older than that (I think it was 67), and that comes with the calculation period (the years used to determine the amount of money you'll get while retired) being heightened from 15 years to 25, which means that if you didn't work on those years, or had a lower paycheck, you'll end up with less money than those not affected (by currently being beyond the application limit). Jobs are payed like crap, contracts are rubbish (in my case, I've been renewed twice, and both times, with a temporary contract), and if you want your own home to form a family, you'll just have to get a +30 years mortgage, provided they authorize it first, which has people of 30 y.o. still living with their parents. The US ain't the only place in the world where crap happens... it's all around the globe. |

Take your time.
Be careful. And do your homework, Mothballs. Leaving one country is NOT the difficult part of relocation. Finding another that will allow you to reside and work within it's borders is. Consideration number 1: Language. (This can narrow things down a-bit). Consideration number 2: Employment, or source of income. Consideration number 3: Cost of goods versus income. (Check both Income AND Sales Tax rates. You may be very surprised). To me, a love for the people, land, and culture of your intended new motherland is MANDATORY. (Nobody likes immigrants that come to exploit their country). |

I know exactly where you're coming from, but don't know where you can go.
Damn Socialism is a world disease. They keep trying to rewrite Natures Law to say "Survival of the weakest"! The guy "on disability" get's a reserved parking spot by the front door, while the guy being taxed to support him may not even find a vacant spot. Their other rule is that descrimination is OK, as long as it's practiced against the majority, or the strongest. |

This is not new, this has been a major factor since FDR. You have to give up more and more of your income to support others. What country are you going to live in?

it really is all nonsense.
We should send our feds out to sea in an old diesel boat with worn out engines that wont run another minute. OVERHAUL THE TAX CODE and then you will get the tools required to OVERHAUL THE DIESELS ![]() truth be known there are so many "pet projects" that politicians pour money into... and government spending in the United States is absolutely OUT OF CONTROL and must be curtailed.
