Default Great News

An arrest has been made in the case of the arson fires in my neighborhood (the one which claimed my 2 cars and a small part of my home)

It was a 20 year old punk kid.

he was burglarizing vehicles, then setting them on fire to hide the evidence.

one of the cars he set fire to - the fire didnt take and the flames went out in their infancy due to a light drizzling rain.

authorities were able to take fingerprints from the vehicle and run them through a computer

within a day they had a name, and an address, for an individual with a prior criminal record.

they asked me to come in and identify an object which they feel was taken from my vehicle.

i went in and sure enough it was one of my personal belongings - the guy had several other belongings of others in his possession.

He is being held on $790,000 bond and is looking at a maximum sentence of 180 years in prison and a fine of nearly $1,000,000

what an idiot.

rumor has it he was steeling the items to pawn them or sell them online for Drug money... then he was burning the cars to hide the evidence.

he has managed to steal about $600 worth of stuff to sell.

wonder if it was worth it? this young mans life is over for a sum of just a few hundred dollars.

moron

Good, hope they keep him locked up for a long time

Some idiots are apparently too stupid to think and breathe at the same time...

I always wonder what makes people do this. I mean to risk a lifetime in jail just for a few dollars. Don't tell me he couldn't think of this because of being a teenager.
On the other hands drugs can be strong factor in that.

At least he's off the street before he killed someone. Hope he enjoys his time in the "pokey" dancing backwards with Bubba.

What concerns me is why he lit those trash cans off.

He did your cars. This nut had the potenial to be a murderer.

I hope the detectives get an answer to that.

I also hope during his trial it is brought up.

as far as is known... the trash cans cought fire due to being in close proximity to the car.

the question the arson division is asking... can they nail him with "intent to murder"

I'm sure he was just thinking about how, by any means possible, he was going to score some drugs. Every other consideration probably never occured to him.

I'm glad that he was just after GR's stuff in his cars. He could have been armed and desperate enough to try and break into the house. Sure, maybe GR would have stopped him, but you just never know.

lighting my car on fire is one thing - i slept through it.

getting into my house is another matter.

My 9mm pistol is always within 2.5 feet of me at night. (and sometimes day)

You know I'm the same age as this kid, and I'm sure anyone at the 2008 meet could attest to this, I would never, in a million years do this.

Sure, maybe we grew up under circumstances, but I have been offered drugs and alcohol, but I said no. That's the secret, being able to say no.

Definitely not worth it, but I've never been hooked. It's a shame that the drug cravings distort your priorities so much. Sounds like the Trainspotting scenario where everything revolves around the next high and when all your mates are involved it's so hard to break away. None of us are too bright at 20, but there's always hope for the future. Not much for this guy.

Nice to see some justice and closure for the victims of the crimes.
