Default Annoying sound with torpedo impact/explosion

Now playing GWX 3 since it was released. Previously played SH3 stock, Grey Wolves, GWX, etc, etc, for the last 5 or 6 years.

Is it just me, or have others noticed the annoying sound we now get when we torpedo a ship? You know, the explosion followed by some rattling pans or dishes. It appears to be the same ambient sound file used when escorts are throwing depth charges at me.

With a little investigation into the data/sound folder within SH3, I've found the offending file. It's "Depth charges exploding from submarine." Now, for some odd reason, this ambient sound file is now being used for torpedo hits on ships, at least in my downloaded game with GWX3.

Now, there are only a few good explosion sound files within this folder, but I have settled on a couple of better ones: My favorite is "P16_#oil_explosion"; some others to consider: P11_@ref_torp_explosion, P17_@ref_bomb_explosion, P14_@Depthcharge_deepwater, and P05_@Depthcharge_explosion

I simply renamed my favorite ambient sound file with the offending files name, placed it within a mini-mod for JSGME installation, and the rattling pans on torpedo impact are gone.

If anyone has a really good explosion sound file for a torpedo hit on a ship, please let me know. Feel free to post any other comments as well.

you would be surprised.

try it out. you only hear it on torpedo impacts when you are actually submerged.

so it sounds like an underwater explosion of sorts
