Default Spanish Navy 1939 / 1945 GWX3

In order to improve and collaborate, you can download the spanish cruiser Canarias and the destroyers Churruca class...

http://hosted.filefront.com/AHThor

In spite of the spanish neutrality we should take into consideration the important support gave to the german U-boats and ships at the spanish harbours, so I think and proposing to give the real importancy such as the spanish Navy as the ports from now on...

By the way, Churruca destroyers were one of the best destroyers in this period of time

Regards

Thank you AHThor. It's always great to see someone moddeling some of the less well represented nations in order to improve the realism and eye candy.

Hello AH Thor. Thanks for the mod. Wondering... Do I have to manually add it to the harbor or are they positioned in a spanish harbor?

Thanks for your time.

Cool! Its nice to add a little atmosphere whenever I resupply "Das Boot" style. Now if only we could get more French ships....

Oh, and not to whale on the Spanish or anything, just saying, Churruca was based on the British Admiralty class destroyer.

Thanks for your time.
Open up the Campaign_scr in mission editor and add them to whichever ports you want

Thanks I know that. I was hoping or maybe wishing I didn't have to...

Hola, Kamaraden,

As a student of La Guerra Civil, I agree there is potential for an interesting campaign in Spain, before & during WWII. After all, U-boats & Italian subs were involved in the Civil War, for example, to enforce the blockade (naturally, they tended to intercept Soviet shipments to the Republic). Also there was the secret "Operation Ursula" that our Spanish friends are very familiar with, por supuesto. So carry on, I look forward to seeing what you develop!

Thanks! Was about time to see some spanish warships from the civil war era

I suppose there could be a way to create a new flotilla whose career starts in 1937 and is based in Cadiz to have a campaign against the republican forces? :hmm: Adding some old soviet submarines and ships it could be very interesting. Many WW2 air combat simulators have patches and mods for the spanish civil war, we should have it also the sense of covert operation and having to be extremely careful when identifying ships (Unlike after the outbreak of WW2, most of what you would see would be neutrals!) would make a for a very interesting gameplay in itself

Thanks very much. Thor
Do you have any screens of them?
@Wolfehunter
I'm sure you will have to add them to the campaign files yourself to make them show up in game though.

Hmmmm in my game at least the screws of neither unit are rotating :hmm:

Also, the Canarias has one of the telemeter towers floating around at starbord, and it has three stacks instead of the historic two (Later remodelled to one IIRC).

The destroyer is excellent and matches overall well the historic one, but the cruiser seems to be simply a modified unit (Admiral Scheer?) and it doesn't look as exact.

Same here Hitman, both need a few fixes. The destroyer looks very good, but perhaps depth charge racks could be added to the stern. Overall good job Thor

You'll also need to add the following to Data\Sea\Englishnames.cfg:
CACanarias=SPS Canarias
DDChurruca=Churruca Class

The Churruca Class destroyer model is outstanding and seems to be historically accurate:

The SPS Canarias seems to look significantly different in the AHThor version. The only picture of the ship that I can find is the one below, although I'm happy to be proven wrong if someone has better RL pictures of the ship. I personally will not be using it as it seems like a renamed version of a different ship:

It certainly did look different, with a single funnel (Although it was in fact two combined in one exit):

http://www.kbismarck.com/mgl/canarias.gif

According to the info I have readed, the Canarias (And sister ship Baleares) were based in the british County-class cruisers. Hull and armament was the same, but funnels were restructured and a better armour added in the deck (The british County class cruisers had almost none there). Superstructures were also reworked with more compact and streamlined forms.

BTW, Canarias served with the fascist forces, so it is not a target for german submarines

Cool. Im from spain and it's true. The Spanish navy "supports" the U-boat operations. This mod implements the DD's on the GWX 3.0 campaign?
